On 2nd thought this sounds more far-fetched than it did before. So many things wrong with this scenario:
- Not even Lebron is that narcissistic. There's a reason Kobe was the last person to try this.
- You don't mess around in the playoffs series and with a city's hope for a title just to make a (completely unnecessary) point and play mind-games with the coach.
- They didn't realize he was a bad coach when they were winning 60+ games and taking the first round in 5?
- So what if he comes out next game aggressive and they lose? Then what?
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

No way. This is just a lame excuse. If Lebron wanted Brown out, one word to GM and he's gone. In a contract year they'll do anything for him. Also, this speculation means that Lebron is satying with Cavs, so it make sense for Clevlend fans to believe that.

Not every game/series in which Lebron plays bad is some sort of conspiracy.

It's been all playoffs, where have you been?  Lebron has put forth max effort in 2 games this playofs.  Game 4 against the Bulls and Game 3 against the Celtics.

Actually, my specualtion is that he is staying, the speculation in Cleveland is that he is going to Chicago with Calipari and Rose
.

See this is what i dont agree with. Do you think it is possible that he was putting out max effort to start game 5 but quickly got discouraged by our defense?

Eventually you have to start crediting the Celtics defense for stopping him. They did the same thing to him in 08. The Spurs did it to him in 07.

Coaching plays a part in this because they are utilizing his talents wrong, but please dont tell me that whenever he wants to he can flip a switch and the Cavs can win.

Go look at what Lebron avaeraged against the Celics in 2008 and tell me how they stopped him.  Lebron took 2 shots in the first quarter last night, that's not the Celtics stopping him, that's Lebron being passive.

I've already said that the Celtics are playing excellent and I stand behind that.  I would just like to see the Cavs put their best foot forward.

And, actually, 2008 was a great example.  Go watch and game from that series and watch how Lebron played.  Now watch how he played last night and try to tell me his difference in play was all due to the Celtics defense.

And to the people who immediately discredit this, this is coming from someone within the Cavs organization, not an 'expert.'  Although Brian Windhorst, the Cavs beat reporter is basically aying the same thing as well.

Listen when you play bad and lose alot of so called "information" comes out.

If you search conspiracy on this forum, you will find 100's of posts about locker room troubles, Doc losing this team, players not likeing each other etc.

I get it and a lot of it is probably true true. i am not totally discounting this theory you have.

I refuse to believe however that LeBron isn't trying as a result.

It's the playoffs and he knows what is on the line.

And okay I will look at 2008

Game 1: 2-18 12 pts
Game 2: 6-24 21 pts
Game 3: 5-16 21 pts
Game 4: 7-20 21 pts
Game 5: 12-25 35 pts
Game 6: 9-23 32 pts
Game 7: 14-29 45 pts

Series: 35% shooting 26.7 ppg

I guess for the first 4 games he wasnt trying. He must have been mad at his coach. No it's just this year the Celtics weren't supposed to be as good so everyone is grasping for reasons why they have looked bad. You are not alone. The national media is covering it the same way. It is just wrong.

if i remember right, lebron scored well during that series, but shot terribly. he even shot 2-18 from the field in game 1 and had 10 turnovers. he got his points, but he shot terribly.

although i forgot, lebron is so good only way he can have a bad game is to do it on purpose  ::)

Yeah he did shoot shoot pretty terribly in the first 4 or 5 games. Really he and Pierce had a rough time most of that series but their game 7 heroics overshadowed that in the end.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

I loved our D last night but over all Lebron was being ultra passive, and passing from stand still too much.

He needs to create, he wasn't doing that last night at all.  He needs to drive and shoot or drive and kick or run around screens trying to get open with ball not in hands.

Didn't see much of that at all for how much time he played.

I am talking about the effort he put forward, not the actual results.  Like I said, the Celtics have played great defense against him, there's no debating that.  The effort he has put forward has not been the same.

Well then he should be ashamed of himself if that is true. If I were you I would want LeBron to leave if he isnt trying in a playoff series.

well he started to get really agressive, but the charge that pierce took seemed to revert him back

If that's the case, lebron is an idiot.

He is lebron stinking james. Do you really think gilbert would hesitate to fire Brown if James asked for a private meeting with him and said

"listen, it's me or mike brown. I've tired of him. Oh, and I don't want one word of this in the media, think up a way to save face and get him gone. But just so you know, if mike brown is here at the end of the year, i won't be here next year"

and then go and try to play as hard as he can and let the chips fall as they may for now?

If Lebron is truly trying to tank to send a message, he's doing way more harm to himself than anyone else, and it shows how immature he is.
“I will hurt you for this. A day will come when you think you’re safe and happy and your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth. And you will know the debt is paid.” – Tyrion

Here is a clarifying post from the same forum the ones that are close to him are world wide wes and Calipari, I am going to paraphrase. Also, remember, this is just this guys opinion, but he is part of the Cavs orgranization.

'I dont see this as tanking. But people close to him don't have his best ineterests in mind and are causing him to struggle internally about what he wants to do and what he should be doing.'

This person also believes Lebron made up his injury initially to cushion the reaction from his lax play.

Lebron is getting drilled in the media today.  The Lebron I have watched for 7 years would be very aggressive tomorrow night in rsponse to people calling him out.  The Lebron being talked about in this conspiracy theory would slack off and leave Cleveland this offseason.  Man I am hoping or the former.

I don't buy this for a second.

Remember Celtics fans here talking about Pierce quitting on Doc when we were bad during the regular season? Then we hear rumors of Doc taking time off and Pierce says he would consider moving on without Doc here.

Fans like to make up fantastic stories.

Fellas here is a great video break down of Lebron's game last night.  Might help some of you figure out his intentions.

I'm all for that strategy as long as they keep at it for one more game.

Ditto.

Dear Cavs players,
Please keep with your current strategy of outing Mike Brown.  One more game like this, and he's sure to go!  Just think, one more game of pain and suffering before you get a new coach!
Celtics fan for life.

Ah, now I understand why the Celtics lost last year against Orlando. Rondo, Ray, and Pierce wanted Doc fired.

Just Ray and Paul. Rondo was a head case with all sorts of attitude problems, remember?

So, I am not sure if I ever said what I actually think is happening.  Although I think Lebron does not want Mike Brown around I don't think he would tank a game.

Watching the game last night and how poor Lebron's shot was I thought his elbow was really bothering him.

Everything is specualtion right now which is the most frustrating part.

The facts right now are that the Celtics are playing great and the Cavs are not.
