Interesting I would very much like Danny to draft this guy if he's around when we pick.  Nice athleticism and good range.

This isn't your normal big white stiff chad ford is expecting Danny (byu) to pick.

First off, the only thing I've ever seen of this guy is the vid posted in an earlier post, so how he looks in a bigger sample size is up for debate.  That said, just off the video, he does not appear to be unathletic.  Not a super athlete, but not some below the rim schlub either.  Clearly, he has a sweet stroke.  Beyond that, who knows.  I trust Danny's judgment.  The only positions where we are decent looking going forward are PG and Center.  I hope Danny takes BPA in any other position.  On second thought, I hope he takes BPA period, because we will be essentially beginning our rebuild this summer, even though we have KG and Sheed's contracts on the books for two more years.

Crafty player whose consistent lefty stroke and ability to post up have made him a very difficult matchup … He prefers catching the ball just inside the 3 point arc, facing up, using jabs to create space and either letting it fly or taking his man off the dribble … His shot is a text book left handed release, it is very efficient with no wasted motion … Currently he operates mostly in the midrange, but has shown plenty of range to step behind the NBA arc … He gets minimal elevation, but he uses this to his advantage, as he can shot fake and make a move with very little effort … His understanding of spacing and movement could make him a great pick& roll player … For a player his size, his handles are pretty impressive, he is very comfortable pushing the ball in transition off a rebound or putting it on the deck and attacking his match up in the half court … Going both ways he has a nice mid-range pull up that is very difficult to defend because he throws in a step back and a fadeaway to keep the defense guessing … With his back to the basket, he uses head and shoulder fakes before shooting his soft turnaround jumper … He has a fairly strong upper body that allows him to clear space and go to the glass[size] ...

Those are my likes.

but he's always gonna be that defensive liability because he's a tween-er. Too slow to control a 3, too weak to shut down a 4. But with Rondo pushing the press, and Perk on the prowl that should help out.

He definitely looks like he can finish on the break as well as space the floor on the break and in half court offense. He appears to have better than average to good athleticism too . He would be a good running mate with rondo and can play sf + PF.

My first choice would still be ekpe udoh if at all possible. The kid is long ,athletic, can rebound , score and block shots. Would love to see him learning under KG, Perk and Clifford Ray.

I would be ecstatic if Udoh fell to the C's, but he will likely be long gone.

Yea the c's would likely have to move up to grab him. Do you like him enough to trade Perk + nate(s+t) or picks for udoh and role player? I think Udoh is going to be like Josh Smith so I would say yes. Perk is coming up for an extenstion after next year. We could then sign Haywood with the MLE

Hopefully Danny likes him in a "Robert Swift fake like to try to get Al Jefferson" way.

Well, Nate can't be sign and traded before the draft (and I don't think he has that much value anyways).  I probably wouldn't trade him for Perk straight up, since I am not that sold on Udoh, just think he would be a great value (I would much prefer someone like Monroe).  However, if we were also getting a trade exception for Perks salary, or a useful roleplayer (depends who it is), then sure.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Why do so so so many of these prognosticators always seem to have Danny picking a white player? Is it just me or does your in and year out the experts around the country always peg the Celtics as taking some mediocre talented white kid that isn't that athletic.

Last year late in the draft I saw a lot of people giving the C's Nick Calathes. The year before that it was Trent Plaisted and Kostas Koufos. And in other years other guys. Am I the only one who sees these guys doing this?

CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Any East Coast bias in that statement?   ;)

He looks like a 6'9" version of Delonte West to me.

I thought the same exact thing when I saw the video.  Upside being a more athletic Chris Mullin ?

Shot looks nice, but can he defend ?
