Just like to add in the realistic guys that I have seen mentioned in this thread that I like. I've been sorting through how teams' DRtgs move around with certain players in/out of the game and CJ Watson and Amir Johnson show very well on this. They bring some toughness and D to teams that are awful at it. Just thought their on/off court #'s stuck out like a sore thumb.

Agree with bringing back the Allen brothers if their asking price isn't too high. BTW, aren't these guys polar opposites? Thought that was a little funny.  

Also have my eye on Damion James and I think Trevor Booker out of Clemson has NBA talent.

In terms of the grand scheme, a lot has to do with how we finish out the season in the playoffs. If we get bumped out in the first 2 rounds and look like we don't belong as contenders anymore, trading Pierce is probably the way to go. (I keep thinking of something like AK47(exp)/Knicks pick for Pierce.)

Bosh has a player option for next year owed 17.1 million in 10/11. Its been fairly well documented that he wants out of Toronto. So assuming Toronto wants to get something for him instead of letting him walk. Rondo+ filler(6mil) might get it done.

Without getting a impact big man this summer we are toast next year. I would hate to lose Rondo but if you could get a Bosh to pair next to Perk I would.

Probably because Bosh's option is an Early Termination Option and he will control whether he gets traded or not. The Raptors are no longer in control of Bosh's destiny. Chris Bosh is. If he early terminates his contract, he's signing elsewhere. There is NO incentive for him to do a sign and trade unless it is with a team he desires to be with. With KG here, I doubt Boston would be one of those teams.

Rondo would have to be as good as Jason Kidd or Gary Payton in their primes in order for me to not take arguably the best power forward in the entire NBA.

I really hope Rondo gets there. Kidd and Payton clicked by the time they got to year 5. Next year is year 5 for Rondo.

          Rondo is PPG 13.5 RPG 4.40 APG 9.8

Yes we would need to find a new point but if you resign Ray and trade for Bosh all we need is someone not to turn the ball over.

Cmon Nick. He would be making 17 million and change and be on a team probably favored to win it all. Why would he not want to be here? Also Baby or Rasheed would probably be going to Toronto combined with KG not playing heavy regular season minutes next year I dont see that being a problem.

I think Boston could be desirable to him. Bosh wants to get paid, and be in a legit winning situation. KG could play center next to Bosh. After all KG is only going to be good for a max of 30 minutes per game for the duration of his contract.

Then Bosh would still have guns like Ray (resigned) and Paul to open up the floor for him.

Anyway, I don't really think this will happen. I'm sure Bosh's ideal scenario is to pair up with another young superstar. If that can't happen, then you never know...

I know there is plenty of bball to play but my mind wanders.
I think our #1 priority this summer is to improve our hight and athleticism and try and grab a young big with potential to intern behind KG.

Travis Outlaw brings height and athleticism to the SF spot. we could probably get him for the MLE. An alternative would be Hakim Warrick.

Young bigs with potential are rare and expensive. i hold out hope that we could swap Perk and filler for Anthony Randolph.
any big we get would probably require us loosing Perk. i don't think this is a terrible idea. swapping him for a player who better matches rondo's style may have a negative effect on our D. however if rondo is the team's leader of the future matching his style is the way to get back into contention.

other bigs to look at? small forwards?

TP and amen to that.  Every time I watch the Celtics, the thing that they seem to always be lacking is an athletic & long bigman to come off the bench.  Whether I'm Sheldon, Davis, and to some extent Rasheed, its obvious that there is very little interior defense.  I like your ideas.

Good call.  He would be a nice pickup for the 4th big man spot.  He has been an overall disappointment, but if you put him in this system, and get him working with Clifford Ray and KG, and he could turn out to be a player.

I forget, was he a guy that Danny really liked in the draft, or was that Mark Blount Jr. down in Washington?

Yeah, it was Amir Johnson that Danny liked. He was on the board at the end of the second round. I think Blatche went early in the second.

Amir Johnson will cost around $4 million to bring over. I'd be bringing him in here to replace Sheed as the first big off the bench and to give Amir 25 minutes a night backing up KG + Perk. Same with Tyrus if Boston went after him.

I am not sure Johnson will cost that much.  I have a feeling that after the elite players are gone, a lot of teams are going to be closing their wallets, and squeezing the 3rd and 4th tier players.  Johnson, while still having a ton of potential, has been a big disappointment.  He has not been able to do much more in Toronto than he did in Detroit, where he was salary dumped from.  Perhaps a team might throw that kind of money at him, but I think more likely, he is going to be looking at a $2-3.5 million per year deal. 

I think $3 million per annum is the floor for Amir Johnson.

But I reckon it'll take at least $4 million for the Raptors not to make an equal or superior offer. I think Colangelo beats any offer below that price in order to hang onto Amir. BC has talked about re-signing Amir this season several times throughout the season. I do not think Colangelo will let Amir leave on a low valued contract.

TP jdpapa for the bold idea of potentially trading Pierce if we have a relatively early exit from the playoffs.  I know its been thrown around here before, albeit gingerly, but I agree that if it becomes clear that the Championship window is closed then its time to explore that option.

I'd give a TP to PLamb/Nick for his great post, but I didn't want to ruin his perfect 2222

I really like your ideas Nick, and they seem rather feasible, but I'm still not comfortable with having Glen Davis as the primary backup to KG.  I'm sure its not a surprise to anyone on here, but I think we can do better.  In fact, to me the position of backup PF/C will be the most important to fill.
