There is nobody out there who can do a better job this season going forward than Doc.

Getting rid of Doc is checking ourselves out of whatever we could accomplish this season.

Exactly.

Doc did not lose this game, Milwaukee won it.

Get a grip, he's one of the better coaches in the league and has his team with a 40-22 record even though the players have half assed it in effort and performance for over two months

Did you ever think that given the teams injuries, lackluster, declining years from his Big Three, Rasheed and Eddie, and general malaise from the team as a whole that he's done a great job getting the team to the record it has?

Doc's rotations can be questionable, sometimes highly questionable

But he's been shuffling people around all year long due to injuries and trades and signings

The only three players that have consistently been in their role all year long has been Perk, Ray and Rondo and even they have had to play beyond their roles because of what's happening elsewhere

I think this is a complete over reaction given how well the team played as a whole and how well Milwaukee played against them

Given Milwaukee's play, they may have beaten just about any team in the league tonight, they played very well

Give them their do and leave Doc alone

Doc wasn't responsible for tonight's loss or for what's been happening this season

That's mostly on the players
Pick 2 Knicks

PG: George Hill, Ty Lawson
SG: Ray Allen, Anthony Parker, Quentin Richardson
SF: Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, D
PF: Zach Randolph, Kenyon Martin, Jon Brockman, Dante Cunningham
C:  Nene Hilario,   Own rights: Nikola Pekovic IR: Kyle Weaver

Is the Pierce iso gonna be the play we run at the end of playoff games? God I hope not

fire Doc... hire a new coach... (I would love Van Gundy) if all else fails pull a Lakers move (like they did with Phil) and hire Doc back again.

Become Legendary.

Doc is a mediocre coach at best. He won with a supremely talented and healthy team. I don't think he's ever exceeded expectations and routinely gets out-coached imho.

BUT, he did get us a ring which to me buys him one more season as coach.

And I'm not even saying keep doc on indefinitely. I'm saying this decision is an off season decision. We're still playing for something. If we let Doc go, we're not. And I don't like our odds in the lottery.

Sigh!

Another blind rage fire Doc thread.

The real reason behind replacing Doc I contend is that the team needs to be rebuilt at the end of the season no matter what the outcome of the playoffs are. Part of that rebuilding is replacing the coach.

Doc has been good enough but he has missed opportunities to improve the performance of the club.

I wanted Doc fired several times following mind boggling losses but the team is a long shot to win the title at this point. Replacing Doc in the middle part of this season might buy you two more wins but won't affect the bottom line appreciably.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Is it possible to sigh with an exclaimation mark?

Im not saying fire Doc yet but i don't see a lot of thought going into plays in crunch time of games lately. One of Doc's job is to put his team in the best possible to win a game.Always using Paul to close is to predictable...he's making the other team coach's job a lot easier with the plays he draws up,its usually pass it to Paul to take a jumper(iso).

I question the teams overall conditioning and commitment to staying in shape. Why is it most teams can run up and down the court the full 48minutes without looking tired and ready for the morgue like this team does?Other teams has older player than the Celtics but they are able to sustain a full game at a high level.Mavericks for one, they are the oldest team in the NBA last i ck'd and they run as often as they can. This team is playing a halfcourt offense a good deal of the time, and still seem worn out,why?...poor conditioning could be a start.

The "Doc has got to go" posts have to go. The players are playing for 240 minutes, while Doc doesn't play at all. Coaching matters only so much in this league - it all in the end comes down to the players. Although the coach sets plays, most NBA players can operate fairly well without this guidance. A good coach is important, not essential.

For all those who think motivation is the issue, it's not Doc's fault. Doc is one of the best "players' coaches" in the league. If he can't motivate them, few else can. How much can one person motivate somebody else anyway? You can only be motivated if you want to be motivated.

I do think he ought to improve his rotations though...

Doc is not connecting to these players like he did last year or the year before.  There were injuries and lineup changes all over he place last year as well, but the team still played hard.  Not this year.

What was it the Bird used to say about changing the coaches every couple seasons because it would be better for the team to hear a fresh voice?

Doc will complete this season, but, short of a title, I have to think you need to look at whether or not he is the coach for next season.

Well, based on Danny's recent comments on weei I think there's going to be a lot of disappointed Celticsbloggers this summer and next year because Danny Ainge does not see this team's struggles as Doc not getting through to the players but more like the players not playing well

Sorry people, Doc's going to be around a while

GM speak.

I would not be surprised if Doc is back.

And I would not be surprised if his job performance isn't looked at if this team disappoints.
