What current player plays like .....

Sometime the generational gap in the basketball world is such that many in the younger generation don't get to know or see how the greats of old played or why old timers like myself and others believe that these players would dominate the game even in today's game

So as an assistance to a better overall understanding of what older players were like, I thought it might be a good idea for those who have seen some of the older players to compare them to a modern day player so that people who have never seen them play but heard of their greatness will have a point of reference to compare these players to when they hear their names

Here's some players to start with

If you've seen them play, do a quick comparison to a modern day player(anyone in last 20 years) and tell us why they remind you of said player so that others can understand why these players were consider as great as they were

John Havlicek = Tracy McGrady ... creative wing player, always a triple double threat - not as physical as lebron (who is) ... but capable of playing any of the four non-center positions on the floor based on alignment ... and both took a few years for the full games to really click

I was kinda thinking Scottie Pippen would be the best example because of the reasons you explained above and because of his elite defensive ability

In choosing T-Mac I think you sell Hondo's defensive abilities very short

But for players in today's NBA.....Brandon Roy

Is there any doubt that at this point in their careers Bill Walton's modern day twin in comparing their games and careers is Greg Oden

hondo=nash, constant movement, hondo would run you into the ground, maybe danny granger in offense though
gervin=durant, i actually think he reminds me of him a lot but durant is going to be a much better all around player

rick barry= who whines the most of all nba players?

KC Jones - Derek Fisher ... defends well, large butt, good player for a winning team, no business being a Hall of Famer

George Gervin - Kevin Durant ... no explanation needed

Bill Walton - Yao ... otherworldly basketball skills for a big man, but his feet are terrible
