She's been doing a lot of NCAA(college)basketball this season.

She's one of their lead analysts for the Big East ... she is their lead sideline reporter for the ABC NBA games ... and obviously does some of the random ESPN NBA games when needed.  She's like Bilas for them - does a lot of research and prep, and it shows.  Minimal hoo haa.

She called a national C's game a couple years ago, and I thought she was too bland and conservative.  She seemed more worried about failing because of her gender than doing color analysis.

But last night I sensed that she was much more comfortable in her skin.  Her commentary was very insightful and you can tell her pre-game preparation is legit.  I'm not sure I'm ready for her to be calling playoff games (her excitement level still isn't enough to fire me up),  but if she keeps improving I might change my mind.  She's leaps and bounds better than most of the color guys on the local broadcasts around the country.  90% of them are woefully bad.

Doris has done a lot of college color commentary too - I've been impressed by her knowledge and her easy going but still excited manner of commenting.  She seems very good at color commentary, and I hope they give her more work there.

She's better than Doug Collins (great voice but little insight) and the Mark Jackson/Van Gundy combo (every conversation devolves into "entertaining" and irrelevant banter, at the expense of the game).

Hubie Brown is a lot of fun.  So is Fratello.  But nobody beats Tommy Heinsohn.

She definitely knows her basketball.
That's what I like about her.  She isn't just some "female" they put out there just to have one.  In terms of actual bball knolwledge, she is able to articulate better than many of the men we consider so good at what they do.

I do, however, agree that nobody meets Tommy.

By the way, did anybody see the post-game show where Tommy referred to himself as TH and Gary Tanguay completely didn't get what TH meant.  What a goober.  Tommy looked at him like "Seriously?"

No doubt.  I would take Doris Burke over Van Gundy and Jackson any day of the week.  She really knows her stuff.

On a side note I would like to thank her for trying to explain why Davis a key component of the team.  Please do your best to listen and follow what she says.

I found it interesting to juxtapose her BBIQ with those of the Boston Radio guys from trade deadline.

I still can't stop saying Doris the Finkasaurus when I hear her name, but that's really more of a statement of my maturity level than an assessment of her talent.  I think Doris did a fine job last night.
Yup

absolutely.  i was thinking the whole game how good she was and it seemed obvious that even though she is not a former (nba) player or coach she somehow gets inside access, hope we see more of her

she did say one thing where I swore at the TV, it was about some aspect of one of our player's game where she didn't know what she was talking about, (and I can't remember what) but hey that happens with JVG 3 or 4 times a broadcast, "What I wanna know is how they pick players for the 3-point contest, no really, pp, is third best 3 point shooter on his team, on his own team, how does that....to me...to me...to me...."  blah, blah, blah

oh, wait, I remember, she was praising perk and one of the things she listed was that he doesn't need or ask for offense to be run for him.  that hasn't been true for awhile now.

thought she was especially good in talking about KG's movement from end to end, which is something a live viewer can see better than us at home, and kg did seem to be getting from end to end much better, which was a relief.

if we get something close to the old kg plus last nights defense, rebounding, and general energy to lose balls the rest of the league better be careful or we just might get another 'heart of a champion' speech.

She did very well in this game. I have also heard her where she was awful. I'm going to wait a while to put her in the color commentator hall of fame.

I thought it was hilarious when she called Perk out for being physical.

"He's the type of guy who might just hit someone if he's not in foul trouble by the 3rd quarter"

I liked it when she called him a sweetheart, and later shared that every foul looked like flagrant foul to her.

The woman's perspective on basketball is a nice change of pace.
