Think about it.
Unless KG's condition is much more serious than is being shown, (It can't be that bad if he's playing minutes in the all-star game), then why the heck would the Celtics bring this guy on? Look at his contract.
Look at the contract they gave Sheed. If they can find a buyer for Sheed, I think they'd have few problems bringing in Jamison.
KG is a 30 minute player now, and, given his declining mobility, an increasing amount of those minutes should probably be at the 5. That means we could use a good 4 for 20-30 minutes a game, and neither Baby nor Sheed have shown the ability to be good 4s this season. Both have struggled mightily at guarding 4s and making open jumpers.
Jamison's a very good 4, and if you boot Sheed off the team, his contract isn't unpalatable.
It would become a problem if the team wants to resign Perk to a lucrative deal, but I'm not so sure that's the case.
The numbers between Sheed & Jamison are pretty significant. In Sheed, you're talking about a bench guy who'll only be on the hook for $6-7 million a year. For me, that's affordable for a bench player. In Jamison, you're getting a guy who'll be at over $13 million next year and $15 million the year after that.
Wallace, for all his flaws, gets you a lot more bang for the buck, IMO.
If Jamison enough of an increase in talent to justify the payroll you'll be taking on? For a bench guy, mind you?
The answer to me is "No".
I'm also in the seeming minority here that thinks that Sheed will be a valuable asset for us coming playoff time and I'm not ready to give up on him after half a regular season.
