Nice article about the intangible little things. KG is probably like the cool kinda crazy big brother that the younger players would love to have.

Quote
After the East defeated the West on Sunday night, Garnett’s teammates revealed the impact he made on the squad.
Quote
Al Horford, Atlanta Hawks — “[His intensity] is a good thing. When he’s on my side, I love it. I really had a great time with all those guys, and he really is that intense player. I think people, it maybe goes underrated, how big of a leader he is. He really came in here and made everybody feel welcome and comfortable and really gave us good advice. Right away, he congratulated us first-timers here, and just throughout the week[end] he really encouraged us the right way. He’s a true leader.”
Quote
Rajon Rondo, Celtics — “I really wasn’t on the bench with KG. When he was playing I was sitting and vice versa, so for the most part KG is KG. … He had a lot of intensity [during the Three-Point Shootout]. But we wanted our guy to win, Paul [Pierce]. We rooted for Paul. We were over there cheering like we were actual fans, which we were. Paul did a great job. We were over there talking a lot of trash, especially KG.”
Quote
Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls — “He was just telling me just to get the jitters out with my first shot, I should just drive to the hole, don’t shoot the jump shot because I might elbow or something like that. But he was just kidding around, just telling me to go out there and play my regular game. … It means a lot. You see how many stars he’s got on that back of his shirt. He’s got 13, 14 stars on the back of his shirt, so he definitely was like the leader on this team.”

Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

KG & Pierce seemed to be the two vocal leaders leading the charge last night from the bench. Add in the fact that Rondo was out there in crunchtime and you have to be very proud of the Celtics representatives yesterday.

Its weird to see those two and realize they're the old veterans now.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Type of guy you love to play with hate to play against.

Nice to read this type of thread...and glad some players got to see who he is from a different light, especially guys like Al Hordford, that might had some doubts in the past that KG is the real deal 24/7.tp

Yes re his knees...guy like KG toils in Minny dutifully for 12-13 years...you'd love to see him finally be able to enjoy 2-3 seasons in the big show, going for the titles, 100 % healthy. It's like you wish it for him. He's everything the game should be about.

He's fine financially, I get that. But I'd wish a guy like him a nice healthy 2-3 year run in the big show, going for it.

He's finally in the right place with a great team...and he's hobbling...

Wish KG good health and at least one more ring he can put on his hand before he's done. He's earned it.
