Iguodala for Amare Stoudamire heating up again? ( Rumors)

NBA Trade Rumors earlier today suggested that Amare Stoudemire to Clevelands Cavs deal was all but done but recent reports suggest that Suns GM Steve Kerr is waiting it out and looking for better options The NBA Trade rumor currently circulating is that Kerr and the Suns are primarily interesting in the Philadelphia 76ers’ Andre Iguodala .

This would be such a better deal for the Suns than the Cavs offer. Hopefully they can work something out . Keep Stoudamire away from the cavs!!

David Aldidge also said on NBATV  that Cleveland and the Suns were no where close to making a deal.

Not saying I want Stoudamire given that we'd probably part with Perk, but a Ray/Perk (plus fillers) for Stoudamire/JRich is not a bad deal for either side.  Gives an intriguing lineup for us for this year and next and some flexibility moving forward as Pierce, Richardson and Stoudamire all expire next year.   

Perk would be a huge loss to our defense and difficult to replace.

Perk would be a loss, but we need to get a young PF in here. KG is going to be completely done soon. Plus we could likely get a guy like kurt thomas with our expirings ( scal, Ta) and a 2nd rd pick. I know Kurt Thomas and Wallace are very old , but the one thing they can still do is play very good post defense.

Jason Richardson makes us so much more athletic and along with Stoudamire we would be able to have a real fast break attach . Both Richardson and Stoudamire would get so many easy alley oops from Rondo

Then you could have PP Sspotting up from 3 and KG from 18 feet on the fast break. 

And a combo of Rondo + stoudamire is a much better fit than Rondo + Perk for the future.


Don't think the Suns would do it though, they Already have a very good young defensive minded center with Robin Lopez

The problem is that team is hamstrung in regards to the salary cap and they're not gonna do anything with their current core.  If they could move Brand, that'd be the move and not moving Iggy. 

I'd probably wait on moving Iggy right now.  Ride it out another year with Brand in there.  See if there is any improvement. If things are the same near the trading deadline next year, move him.

I'm not sure Amare is better than Igoudala. Nevermind to such a significant degree that I discount who else is on the roster. In certain situations? Yes, where they need a scorer, Amare would add more. But overall? Regardless of situation? I'm not sure about that.

Iguodala is a standout defensively + a very good passer + a good rebounder + solid scorer vs Amare who is a very good scorer but below average defensively/rebounding/passing.

AI2 is a long term contract.  This season, they can add a player like Amare.  If Philly stays on this trend, in the future, they will not be able to. 


And actually, I like the idea of Amare playing with Brand for the 76ers.  They need Amare to start playing a more full game on defense.  Brand might be a help in pulling this out.

this whole rumor doesn't make sense.  both teams are looking to dump salary.  neither team is contending.  both the sixers and the suns are talking to teams that have expiring contracts to offer.

Isnt the point of the suns trading amare is to get cap space? they are worried about financial flexibility and iggy has a 4 year deal that would tie them up...doesnt make sense to me but whatever works i guess. I dont think Amare would stay in Philly either...
