Funny Rajon story. He really is too cute.

Quote
Rondo was asked for some of his hidden talents off the floor.

“Hidden talents?” he said. “Singing. You know, I’ve got a rap CD coming out in like two weeks.”

Would he be rapping or singing, the guy wanted to know.

“Doing a little bit of both,” Rondo deadpanned. “Like Drake. You know who Drake is?”

Quote
The inquisitor was loving the deep repartee. He asked if Rondo could see an analogy between how he approaches the game and his music as far as the creative aspects.

“Yea and nay,” said Rondo, his face still unchanged. “Music is something I’ve been doing my entire life. You know, basketball I’ve been playing since I was probably maybe 15 or 16.”

He was asked about his philosophy for overcoming adversity and he said, “Staying positive and eventually things will turn around for me. You know, it took me like six years to release my album, so I’m finally excited about doing that.”

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

wish he'd devote some of that time toward practicing his free throws a little more...

What, interview with the media time?

I think all player's pretty much have to talk to the media, espically at all-star weekend.

At least he took some fun with it and pulled a good prank on a reporter :D

Really. A few more hours here or there and he'll be up around 95%.

sarcasm noted...  but that's what the great ones do.  the difference between rondo the "very good" player and rondo the "great" player may just be the difference at what he does at the charity stripe.

oh, i suppose i'm labeled a prune here, but this won't be so funny, i suppose, if we're in game 7 and less than a second to play, down 1 point and rondo standing at the free throw line with two shots...

I fail to see why Rondo isn't allowed to joke because his free throws are bad.

Trolling imo.

Yeah, I don't really get why his free throw shooting is being brought up?

You do realize he was kidding about the album right? I know his free shooting can be abysmal enough to make some of us cry but it shouldn't mean we should begrudge him a chance amuse himself.

Bill Russell shot 56.1% from the free throw line.

FT% doesn't equal greatness. I agree that he needs to keep improving, that's what the great players do keep adding to their game. But people seem to think a shooting coach and a few extra hours can "fix it". Its not that simple...

Rondo is the man. Hard to get along with...don't think the faults on Rajon's end right there.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

If all you had to do to hit all your free throws is practice then there would never be a player in the nba that shot under 90%. Rondo's improved significantly as a player this year, just as he has every year of his career. Yet some people will only judge him based on his flaws (or his perceived flaws). After a plethora of posts declaring that Rondo will never be an all-star because of his ft shooting and lack of an outside shot I'm less inclined to buy this line of thinking.
