They are going after Jamison even without Butler? If they are willing to take on that big contract for a 33 year old PF , the C's must be extremely concerned. I don't think this has anything to do with keeping Jamison away from the Cavs, its about finding an allstar caliber big man because they can't count on KG in my opinion.

Jamison isn't good enough to keep the Celtics in contention without a healthy + effective KG.

It seems like a very poor contingency plan.

I agree. It more points to them thinking Sheed might be done.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
you can never have enough talent...  i don't think a potential trade for jamison has anything to do with KG.

if you trade ray allen, you have to move pierce to SG (most likely), because you don't spend that kind of money for a bench player.  plus, i don't like the idea of jamison playing PF at all.

It could be Jamison and Miller.

Thing is, Miller's an expiring, and I feel like it would be unlikely that we'd re-sign him, while Butler had two years, right?

I don't think so Antwan Jamison is a different player than Rasheed and much more similar to KG.

But if KG's done it makes more sense to trade for youth. Why go after a 33 year old with almost $40M on his contract if you don't think you've got a good shot at winning a title?

the team is keeping a window open with the trade - given that Jamison has a skillset that is not age-dependent.  Shoots the ball well, rebounds the ball well and has played on good teams ...

Or I think it may be something to do with the fact that they know each of the Big Three is probably (even if they heal) a little less than they were two years ago.  Boosting their bench is one more way to upgrade this team.

Trade Eddie, TA, Scal, and J.R. for Jamison and then deal BBD for D.J. and you then have a playoff rotation of

Perk/Wallace
KG/Jamison
PP/Daniels or Jamison
RA/Daniels
Rondo/Augustin

Maybe add another buyout guy later.

I think its a smokescreen and that the Celtics don't have any serious interest in Jamison.

PP is done; KG is done and RA is done. Accept reality. We are not going to win another banner with those three. Tha window is closed. I enjoyed the ride. It was remarkable; but like Gen. McArthur, rhose three are going to fade away quicker than we wish. What are the owners going to do about it? I have no idea. Im sure they are not interested in our proposed trades;: I dont even indulge in making theoretical trades; I have better things to do. If they make trades; so mucgh the better; I love trades; new blood brings new expectations. To me Everybody in that team is tradeable if the team gets better. Nobody has a free ride anymore. The train is leaving the station and trade time is for the quick or the dead. The Cavs are moving and the Lakers will probably move too. We cannot beat them as they are now; much less if they improve and we stay with mediocre moves. This is not being a pessimist; this is being a realist. This is not being a fan-atic; thi is having the eyes wide open and seeing a few excellent stars acting like players past their prime because they ARE past their prime. Im not even disgusted with their present performance. Im even happy that they allowed me to watch a hell of a good team win a a banner in the first year of their great move. I just accept that its over for this extraordinary bunch of guys. So its time to go on and start anew. Shalom.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

First of all, this team, or it's players is not 'done'. Come on, sure we have played terribly lately. The thing is though, the Lakers won by what, one point, and the Magic by a basket or something close to that. Those are two excellent teams that barely won. KG looks really bad now but he will progress barring further injury. If team doctors thought he had a good chance of reinjuring the knee then he would not be playing.

Jamison does two things to help this team out tremendously. He does provide a good backup for KG and also is an inurance policy in case he does get reinjured. If Jamison plays then we have a contingency plan and even if KG doesnt get hurt again he will have the time he needs to heal.

I might not disagree with the Celtics thinking KG was done, or close to it, but if that was the case, why wouldn't we go hard after Amare instead of Jamison?
