I was just wondering how many people on here have ever attended a Celtics game on their own and what you thought about it.  I ask this because that is what I did for yesterday's game.  Despite the loss, I'm happy I did.  I feel like I was a part of another Celtics Lakers classic (even if it was only regular season) and I had a blast.

Now I know some people have hang ups about doing things alone (i.e. movies, dinner, etc.) and I do too to some extent but when it comes to Celtics basketball I almost prefer it.  I love the excitement of going to a big game, focusing only on basketball and forgetting about everything else.  Sine I was about 15 yrs old I have taken the commuter rail in from Waltham and attended games on my own.  I've seen incredible wins and suffered excruciating defeat a la yesterday.  No matter what though its always so much fun.  I hadnt had a chance to attend a solo game since game 2 of the NBA Finals or even a game for that matter because having just graduated from college and started a job, I barely have much time but I am very glad I did it yesterday.  It kind of brought me back to childhood and let me enjoy myself for several hours without a care in the world.

Thoughts???

I went to a lot of games alone the 10 years or so before the big 3.  I couldn't get peeps to go to the games back then...

The game did have that classic game feel for a little bit.

While I would always prefer to go with someone, usually my friends aren't big C's/basketball fans or poor or both, so it's hard getting somebody to go with me.  Especially since I live 2 hours away from Boston and NYC, it's even harder to convince someone to go with me.

"Hey you want to drive 2 hours one way to Jersey for a Nets/Celtics game."  Not an easy sell lol, so I've gone to a few by myself.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I never have, but my Dad does sometimes and loves it.  We split season tickets, and a lot of times if I can't go, he will just go alone, spread out a bit, and just enjoy it.  The way he talks about it, it makes me want to go alone as well.

Haha, I didn't watch the broadcast so I don't know what you're referring to... What did they say?

I am a big time Loner and love doing stuff alone (editors note: I am a normal person and engaged, have plenty of friends and am not a total creep)... I won't do dinner alone, but movies, snowboarding, and games I will do by myself. No waiting on other people, no peripheral distractions...just do your own thing. I almost prefer it myself. If I could bring my dog, it would be perfect!

I would definitely recommend trying it out sometime.  It's almost therapeutic, for me at least.  You get to focus on the game and really see what's going on without anyone else's commentary like TV broadcasters, a buddy, or worst of all having to explain what's going on to your gf, lol.  The best part is probably getting to talk to other people at the game.

Yesterday as I got to my seat there were two  guys dressed in LA jerseys and thought "oh [dang]."  But we got to talking and come to find out they flew out from LA just for the game, they were Latino (like myself) and it turned out to be a really good time.  Despite their alliegances we grabbed a couple of drinks afterwards.  Times like that are always cool.

Lol, i feel exactly the same way.  I always cherish time on my own especially because I get so little of it.  Celtics games especially bring me back to my childhood which I guess is why I always have a good time despite the outcome.  I take losses hard but the ups and downs of sports are what make it great (although I always want the W).  Pretty much the only thing that can dampen my experience are fans who complain about standing or a dead crowd. >:(

Well, I haven't done it, but the tickets are significantly cheaper and I like being introverted so I should try it sometime.

The guy had on a green and white afro and was seen screaming from his seat. The broadcast team were saying that he was definitely single and that he definitely went alone.

I've gone to plenty of movies alone, and kind of enjoy it, but I've only gone to one sporting event solo before.  I was hooked up with a single seat for the Banner Raising night in 2008 and I just couldn't pass it up.  I had a great time, and I'm glad I did it.  I think a lot depends on the people sitting around you though.  If you can talk hoops of give high fives with your neighbors then everything's hunky dorry.
Yup

Lol, definitely not me.  I left my girlfriend at home purposefully... although the hiked up ticket prices also contributed to that decision.  ;D
