Remember--NOT breaking up the Original Big 3 led to a 22 year drought.

Not exactly true.  If Len Bias wouldn't have tragically passed away the Big 3 would have definitely won at least a couple more titles.  The  NBA champion Celtics had just picked up the most athletic college player to come along in years who would have learned from Bird, Mchale and Parrish and also extended their careers.  The Celtics had already made the move to fortify the Big 3 it just ended in an unforseen manner.

Well...the C's were urged to break up the Big 3 AFTER Bias had died...so,although I agree Len Bias would have probably meant 3-4 more titles...Ainge knew after the 86-87 we should have done it...So, any time you hear that Ainge story about how he told Red to make a trade--it was only because Bias wasn't there.

Ainge is reported to have said that in the beginning of the 88-89 season, and the trades were supposed to be to Indiana and Dallas. Im sorry, but neither team had anyone that would have made the team competitive enough to beat the pistons and later the bulls.
