3 easy steps to internet fame

1. wait for a quasi rumor to surface

2. when it does, immediately post that it is a DONE DEAL and follow up with vague "details" that might work in the trade machine if you added a few pieces here or there (but leave it somewhat vague)

3. if it doesn't work out, talk about how it fell through and repeat steps 1 and 2

when all else fails, create new twitter account and start over

not that I'm accusing anyone of this, nor am I condoning it in any way, I'm just pointing it out

I have to agree.  Some people are so anxious to be the "first to report" that they hedge themselves in case things don't work out. They want to be able to brag that they "reported it first" but, in reality, its not really fact.

The internet has allowed the "everyman" the ability to put out information and see what sticks.

My two cents on this:

The Herald report source dismisses that anything is happening out of suspicion that the Cs can't meet the Knicks demands. It also suggests talks have been off for a while.

Yet, A. Sherrod Blakely specifically notes below that the Knicks are asking for a 1st some years down the road out of hopes the Cs fortunes will fall, yielding a higher pick. He also suggests they're weighing whether to trade him in the east.

http://www.csnne.com/pages/landing_celtics?Nate-Robinson-to-the-Celtics-=1&blockID=161166&feedID=4022

This really doesn't pass the smell test of a conversation that has been dead for weeks. It sounds more like an ongoing negotiation.

Let's keep in mind that the teams could be talking about multiple players, and this could adjust the Knicks asking price for Nate -- say Jeffries. Also, considering Nate can veto any deal, Ainge and Walsh are likely waiting to come to an hand-shake agreement on those players before raising this with Goodwin for approval. Looping him in prior may lead him to be inclined to comment on behalf of his client at the expense of the overall deal.

Considering the professionalism of both Walsh and Ainge, we shouldn't be surprised Nate's agent and Doc are saying they dunno about it.

What's Doc going to say? The article is titles Doc has "no knowledge" of a deal -- a denial out of Law & Order. But all the denials are all pretty non-commital.

Granted I'm just bored and over-reading it. But just sayin'...

For what it's worth, this deal would be a no brainer from our side.  Anyone complaining about losing House are way off.  That said, those wondering what ELSE we are giving up I think our on the right track.  This deal makes little sense from NY's perspective (unless D'Antoni really is fascinated with House).

I think he was House's coach in Phoenix back in 2005.

He was his coach.  I've read that they regretting letting him walk, he was a helluva player for them (although just as with us, very much a hot-and-cold player).  He spend a fair amount of time in D'Antoni's doghouse, he hardly saw the floor at various stretches.

Hell, get yourself a copy of "Seven Seconds or Less," it's worth the $5 or whatever it costs for a used copy just for the parts about Eddie.

One consideration: would we acquire Nate's Bird Rights as well?

If so, I'd feel better about such a deal. I'm not interested in giving up much for a player who can simply walk at the end of the season.

Sorry House fans, but Nates the better option for us. He can defend PGs, he can dribble, and he can score in bunches with limited minutes. Sure, he's a headcase, but so is LeBron. I really like House, and his attitude towards the game and this team, but Nate can hits 3's consistently plus play PG. And having them BOTH makes NO SENSE for us.

What I would like to do is include Wilson Chandler and add in BBD. Get a 3rd team involved. Have Sheed play SF and have Sheldon play big(he's better at C than BBD, and we dont' want or need Sheed at the 5 throwing up bricks from 3)
Can't stop, Rondo!

No. He has to waive them to be traded.

I believe this trade will not happen. I think New York will ask for too much and then just before the playoffs realize that they should buy him out to save money. At this point anyone who doesn't think Nate is a good fit should play in traffic.

No way the Celtics give up a 1st.

Nate limits the trade parters.  He will only accept to a team that he thinks will be in the playoffs.  How many of the sure things are in need of him?

I think the Celtics give up a 1st if it's this year or the next.  Given our recent draft history and our coach's history with young players it's unlikely our 1st rounders for this year or next will play much for us.

IF E House, Billy and a 1st gets it done,

THEN we need to do it. Nate Robinson is Eddie House but much much much much better.

This is the time to admit when the Celtics window closes in about 1 or 2 years, it slams closed and it's time for the late 90s again.

In some ways, I found being a Celtics fan far more enjoyable when we were mediocre. Better debates. Maybe I am a goofball.

Can I also just mention that this deal makes no sense for the Knicks? They're getting expirings for expirings, so where is the angle for NY?

According to Red's Army, the Walker/House combo for Robinson doesn't work straight up (per RealGM's trade checker). So they are probably just part of the deal and a first pick is certainly involved... it this is true, of course.

I wonder about the FRP being involved. I think it's probably more likely that Jared Jefferies is involved.

Taking Jeffries along with Nate wouldn't be so bad.  Sure he's way overpaid (thanks Isiah), but he is a capable defender who can hit the three ball.  I'd rather take him than give up first; I think he'd fit into our system well actually.

I remember being extremely impressed with his 1on1 defense against Lebron a few years back when Washington took them to seven games and Gil missed those FT's to ice the series.

I feel like I don't agree with you that often wdleehi so if we agree on this point it has to be a fact.
The Celtics would be crazy to give up a first for a guy who could be released and who has a full no trade clause if he ends up being traded. They are dealing from a position of strength.
