I don't know about yall, but i'm very high on Larry Hughes coming to the Celtics after his buyout from the Knicks. I believe he's the guy we most definitely need for our back-up Point guard position. He shoots, scores, run the offense, create for others, penetrates, passes and has very good size @ 6'4"-6'5". Hopefully Danny is looking in to acquiring Hughes when they buy him out. ;)

Probably so ... if the Knicks can't find a trade for him prior to the deadline. Which is unlikely given their need for cap flexibility (Hughes only real value trade wise).

i like his skills, but he's the guy a couple of years ago who said he'd rather play on a bad team and have fun than worry about winning so much... or something like that.

i can respect that as a person. it doesn't mean he's a bad guy.  but i have to question what he would bring when the team was struggling.

talent-wise, he'd be great though.  can play both guard positions and be a threat from each one.

He would be an upgrade to the bench, filling the role of "injury fill in player"

I'd definitely pick him up, but first want to see if we can get anything better... If not definitely.

Used to like Hughes; but he is so unreliable and people soured on him so quick in Cleveland would not touch him. Cab driver I talked to in Cleveland a couple years ago wanted him gone. Man knew what he was talking bout.

Good defender but a bad shooter.  He's not a good fit for Rivers' offense.

Agreed here,he recently threw the coach under the bus in NY to the media, seems to always have issues everywhere he plays.I remember in Chicago he constantly complained,in Clevland. Its always the other guy,or team in his eyes and never him.I wouldn't waste the spot for him.tp

He's not my favorite player in the league, but for a minimum contract, I'd bring him on.
agreed.  and that's all the Cs have to offer, IIRC.  i wonder if other contenders still have a portion of MLE or the LLE to use...

  • Rondo = Good
Hughes has significant flaws but he may be the best thing available from the waiver wire around the deadline and as the 4th or 5th guy off the bench he'd be pretty decent.

It would be interesting to see Hughes, Daniels, and TA all playing together off the bench.  None of them shoots all that well but I think defensively it would be so much better than Eddie House...and at least 2 of them can run the offense better than Eddie, too.

Acquiring Hughes would allow us to play Ray a lot less for the rest of the regular season, which would be fantastic since he has been logging far too many minutes.

Amen.  At least Stephon Marbury used to be good.

Hughes would be a Marbury-as-Celtic repeat: terrible shooter who feels uncomfortable playing as a pass-first guard.

No thank you.  Marquis Daniels can play that role much better.
