"When we are healthy, we are one of the best teams in the league." That is a statement that I am really getting tired of hearing from Celtic fans. It would be appropriate to say that if we had minor injuries here and there. But lets face the facts people. KG is on the downside of his career and is suffering a major knee injury that wont seem to go away. Yes, he will most likely be back soon but who is to say he wont re-injure it once he gets back? We still have a long way to go before playoffs. We also have another major big in Rasheed who seems to injure himself every time he comes down from a rebound. Marquise......well we all know his history with injuries. I knock on wood when i say that Perk has always had a lingering shoulder injury.
Now i know I may sound like an average worry ward poster who is willing to blow up this current roster. I am not. I am aware that this team is good, but i beleive we could be great if we start building this team around Rondo who is in dire need of an athletic big, Stoudimire to be exact. Sorry for the rant but baisically my point is that this team IS not healthy and realistically it doesnt look like we will be come playoff time

You may be tired of it, but its true.

When the Celtics were fully healthy they had the best efficiency differential in the league.

Health, luck, and talent are needed to compete in the NBA no way to get around that.

So to understand you right, you want to blow up the current team to get younger? I don't think thats a good move, there are no guarentees when you rebuild.

Im not saying blowing up the team for young players. Believe me, that is the last move I would want Ainge to make. But if a deal comes along which involved trading One of our aging pieces (except Pierce) that would give us an PROVEN, athletic player in thier prime, then i would pull the trigger. I understand that  is a big IF though. But I do not agree with relying on luck to get us to the finals. The cavs arent sitting back and hoping shaq will aid Lebron to the finals. The LAkers, even with the best record in the league, are still looking for moves to make them better. (the bosh trade rumors) Relying on luck is what tanking teams do in attempt to land the number one pick. We are above that.

I think Ainge will be actively looking to move Ray Allen for just such a young player. But I don't see many prospective trades out there that actually will make the C's better.

  We pretty much made our bed when we traded for KG. We're not going to get Amare for KG or Ray unless we throw in Rondo.

The truth is that none of us know how hurt KG is.  My gut feeling is that they're being ultraconservative and that if he needed to play now, he probably could. 

Let's see what happens when he comes back before we start getting bent out of shape.  It's pretty darn impressive that the C's record is this good given the time that KG, Pierce, Rondo, and Sheed have missed.  They'd undoubtedly have the best record in basketball if they were healthy.

Recovering from an injury? I saw KG dragging his leg from the beginning of last season too, before he "injured it."

Also let me add to the OP the question: what is so great Amare Stoudemire?  Sure, he jumps high and puts up nice numbers, but if he was even 1/2 the player Kevin Garnett is now, wouldn't he have found a way to make the Suns even close to a contender by now?  

Sure, you can point to the fact that KG couldn't put it together until he came here; however, KG never had the surrounding cast Stoudemire has always had.  KG had Sam Cassell, Latrell Sprewell and some scrubs and made it to the ECF.  Stoudemire had 3-time MVP Steve Nash, Shaq, Grant Hill, and Jason Richardson and couldn't even make the playoffs last year.  

Sure, he might play better with this group in Boston, but he's been able to do very little with a fairly talented group in Phoenix.  And let's also not forget that he's had his share of leg woes and also had lots of miles on his legs at a young age since he was drafted straight out of high school.

   If he comes back like he was playing in december (16/8 and 58% shooting) we're golden. We'll be as likely to win the title as any other team in the league.

Have you ever recovered from a knee surgery? I've seen many people do it. It is a long process and you don't regain full flexibility and strength for a very long time, if ever.

To equate KG struggling with his conditioning, strength, and flexibility with he was still "injured" is incorrect.
