The only real way to get NBA experience is to play in NBA games. When the Celtics are beating a team badly it is up to the coach to play the younger players so that they can get game experience and build up their confidence. This way if the situation ever arises that you need to play them meaningful minutes they will be ready.

What is more important - winning by 25 and letting the end of the bench play 2-5minutes or take a chance you may win by only 10 but you have given your young guys some run? After all if the newbies actually look to be blowing the lead you can always put a few starters back in.

I remember how Ryan Gomes wasn't even dressing much but all of a sudden he is starting due to injuries.

ya ya ya I know - same old story- but is it not true?

When Ryan Gomes wasn't dressing we were playing a young guy more. His name was Al Jefferson.

What exactly is wrong with the Celtics rotation that you feel you can fit in more time for the young guys? How many players is Doc supposed to play in a game? He usually has 9, do you think he can really play 10/11 consistently?

He can't play 10-11 guys consistently but I agree with the OP's basic point which is you should get all your young guys as much run as possible when you can.

Doc has a habit of playing his starters even when we have a 20-25 point lead. Inexcusable for a few reasons:

1. Great opp to get them injured
2. Terrible waste of an opp to get your young guys damage free paying time ina real game.

Tight games no, games we're blwoing teams out, get the young guys out there. The more the better.

We don't blow out teams by large enough margins often enough for meaningful player development.

Not to mention that you want to develop the team you're going to go into the playoffs with, not necessarily the projects at the end of the bench.

This is no longer a rebuilding team. Besides, its not like Walker/Giddens have been lighting up the world when they've been given a shot.
