As far as I can tell, the second unit is currently:

pg: a tired Ray Allen
sg: Eddie House during one of his slumps
sf: Tony Allen (if he hasn't dribbled it off his foot too many times) or Brian Scalabrine...especially great that TA is getting extra minutes since he had a ton of time to get in NBA shape
pf: big baby or shelden williams: probably our most solid backup spot and that's not saying a lot
c: sheed and he is an absolute chucker lately...he is freaking out coming off the bench and feels the need to shoot, without regard to where he is on the court

We'll eventually be fine, but the bench is a train wreck right now. In the meantime, give me some Lester and Billy.

Might as well Rest Ray. 44mins from him in a lose is not worth it. Couples of loses don't matter much as long as we can keep everyone healthy. Time to cut Ray's minutes.

I agree Change. Who knows if the game even remains that close if he sits more, but Ray usually doesn't miss those crunch time shots. Doc knows Ray is in tip top shape, but no one can train enough to lower their age!

Doc MUST stop playing Ray so long, even in blowout or easy wins. He played 39 Sunday and 44 yesterday...

In the meantime, give me some Lester and Billy.

Believe me, you won't see much of them until at least July 2010.

i still dont understand why people think bill walker is going to get any burn...even with PP out. He isn't. Neither is Giddens. they are practice bodies only. It is well time danny move those 2 and Scal for a bench player that can contribute somewhere. No it isnt a panic move...it is a move that should and needs to be done.

Same thing with Rondo.  I am a Doc apologist, and I understand how hard it is to do in the heat of the moment when you are trying to win a game...but he needs to bite the bullet and get these guys some rest.  And if he really has that little confidence in Walker and Giddens, Danny needs to give him something more to work with.

Please stop with Scal and the intangibles. He is terrible and should not ever see the court. This whole intangible thing is a huge joke and Scal has been one of the worst players in the league this year contributing nothing almost every night.

Its not even "intangibles".  Scal's value is that he is a good team defender, and an exceptional 1 on 1 defender against perimeter big men, and "power 3's", while not taking anything off the table offensively (he spaces the floor well, knows where to be, and doesn't make many mistakes).  However, he is a terrible rebounder, and while not taking anything off the table, does not add anything offensively.

Basically, he is a prototypical 11th or 12th man.  He can step in to play a few minutes against certain matchups, and has the flexibility to defend several positions in case of injury/foul trouble.  However, if you get to the point where he needs to be part of the rotation (where they are right now)...particularly at SF, which is not his best position...then you are in trouble, because that is not where his value lies.

Right now this team is in a tough spot, because they simply don't have anyone else who they trust enough to be out there, but they also don't want to pull the trigger on a move yet, because they think Pierce will be back soon, which will make things OK.  Personally, I am not confident Pierce will be fine that soon (infections are tricky), so I think they should really consider bringing someone in (maybe on a 10 day contract after January 5), and cutting one of the guys they clearly do not think are NBA players loose.

agreed on ray minutes and sheed, uninterested
if sheed is playing his A game he is nearly unstoppable on low post, good defender & rebounder
last 2 games he's downright stunk, last night I would have pulled him for williams!
davis adds energy and good d but at the same time takes away with rebounding & not being able to finish near rim
tony is tony, scal is scal
scal should be a plug in vet for a few minutes a game with daniels & pierce out he's getting time  :P
if eddie isn't hitting his outside shots he isn't much of a help
I think bill walker deserves some minutes at sf, he'll have the energy ta brings at the least.
