Somehow the Cavs with 8 losses leapfrog SIX teams to become #1 after being #7 the week before. And then when you read the comments it doesn't even give you a valid reason why....How can an 8 loss team be ranked higher than a 5 loss team (Lakers) and a 6 loss team that BEAT them?!? Absolutely pitiful....I can understand moving up a few spots especially after the beat down of the Lakers, but all the way up to #1...Give me a break!

Yeah...I call it all part of the "Lakers and Cavs Lovefest"...along with the Muppet shows and dunking over reindeer with GREEN shorts on and all that, lol....

I agree with your post, but the Cavs certainly helped their cause with the win in LA. And they have played well lately. I just don't know if the win in LA was worth jumping in the ranks that far.

The Celtics didn't help their cause for the Power rankings after last night.

In the long run, all that matters is who is standing at the end. And the Celtics will that team, hopefully at the expense of the Lakers.

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with us being #1 in the Power Rankings after we couldn't beat the team that ended up #19th after beating the team that ended up #4 in their house.

Yeah.

I totally agree. We shouldn't be #1 after last night, however, the point I was making is that I don't think what the Cavs have done in the past week justifies them jumping 6 spots. If that were the case, hypothetically, if they lose their next game do you think that will knock them down 6 spots back to #7? I highly doubt it.

the media has such a you know what for the cavs and lebron. they make excuses when they lose and then treat them like kings when they win any game. it makes me sick.

Yeah wait what any fan with half a brain knows the Cavs aren't even contenders this year...

number one my...butt.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

To be fair, power rankings are really about who has played the best recently.  It's not about overall record, so in theory if the Nets came on with a 10 win streak they might be #1 in the power rankings even if their record was still bad.

So while I don't really agree, a big win over the Lakers and some solid play as of late made Stein put Cleveland in the #1 spot.  You might not agree, but I don't think it is ridiculous or indicative of the Lebron hype machine.

Please folks, there are other, much better examples of the Lebron love fest being unfair in other places than this.

Ithought it said Stern's power rankings for a second, and then Cleveland would def be #1

I think its reading into Cleveland's Xmas day win a bit too much but, then again, these rankings tend to be based on recent play.

In the long run, these rankings are meaningless anyways.

I think he did the right thing. If we won last night, we'd be number 1, but we didn't. He never places at 1 a team that lost its last game, well almost never. The Cavs are the hottest team over the last 10 games and deserve the temporary love. It's only temporary.

Stein tends to have his rankings reflect how teams are playing in the here and now and right now the Cavs are playing the best ball in the league. Wins against LAL, PHO, and HOU and none of them were even close.

Keep in mind these rankings are put together by ONE guy. He is clearly impressed by the Cavs play lately and he has given us our due so far throughout the year so I dont really have a problem with him.

Yeah, if we had actually blown out the Clips like we should've, we're probably #1.

Infact, the next 3 teams we face play no defense. Let's blow them out and see what happens.  :D

Clev is #1 this week. That is how Stein's rankings go. Beating the Lakers make them the most worthy considering we lost last night.

When Pierce comes back healthy, we will get a bump.
