Good to hear since it means that the injury is not that bad, but I don't want him to rush his return back and be bothered the rest of the season. Take your time Paul and come back 100% healthy!

this makes it sound very bad:

Update: Pierce in Serious Pain, KG to Play
By Zach Lowe, CelticsHub.com @ December 24th, 5:54 pm (3 hours ago) 4 comments »
The Associated Press has some details on Paul Pierce’s “injury” or “infection,” and it doesn’t sound good.

Money excerpt:

Pierce was in so much pain he called team trainer Ed Lacerte on Wednesday about 3 a.m., Rivers said. Lacerte went to Pierce’s house and took him to the hospital, where fluid was drained from the knee.

“What he’s going through is pretty significant,” Celtics guard Ray Allen said. “It is serious. Because me knowing Paul, he’s always practicing and he’s always playing, so for him not to be here, it must be very significant.”

Yikes. Ray said the word “significant” twice and “serious” once in that statement.

And KG is similarly unnerved, it seems:

“It’s unfortunate for Paul’s situation because it was kind of like a freak accident, or a freak situation,” Garnett said. “It’s really weird when you get the details of it.”

Hmm…”when you get the details of it.” What a teaser. What details? The ones about Pierce calling Ed Lacerte in the middle of the night? Or something else?

I am still waiting for more information about how exactly this sort of infection develops so suddenly, but it is Christmas Eve, and everyone is with their families.

Oh, and KG will play on Christmas, according to the Globe (via Red’s Army, which is cranking out the posts, I must say).

Keep those fingers and toes crossed for good Celtic health in 2010.

Pierce seems to get alot of these fluid swellings around his joints. I remember he had to get his shooting elbow drained a few times the seasons before the big 3 arrived.

  • Rondo = Good
Might be arthritic, like what was bothering Allen Iverson and forced him to get his knee drained.

But they're calling it an infection so that isn't the same thing.

Hopefully Doc's are closer to the mark than Ray's on this one.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

I don't care if he misses 4 or 15 games, as long the injury will be taken care of 100%.

More good news : Paul could join the team on the trip according to Doc!

Quote
“I think it may be shorter now that we’re getting more information about it, than the two weeks, but we just don’t know,” coach Doc Rivers said yesterday. “There’s a chance he may join us on this trip. I told them personally that he would have to be 100 percent for me to allow him to come on this trip.”

Source

I think we can be fine without Paul for the next 4 games so I don't want him to rush his comeback but it's really good to hear that he will be OK and that there was more fear than actual damage.

Good news. If that happens I'll be more happy for Paul than for  the team because I can imagine it's killing him not to play.
I'll miss him out there until he comes back so I hope it's sooner than later but 100% healthy.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

I don't believe it and I don't want him to come back earlier.

He should take the 2 weeks and get as much rest as he can?

Earlier to me means he's going to try and rush back.

He's fine from what they said today.  I don't think the coaching staff will let him come back too early and I know the medical staff won't.

If Doc doesn't force KG back after that tumble today and we pull it out, I don't Doc is going to be freaking out about Paul and jump the gun.

Enjoy the win and the rest of the holidays my fellow CBer's.

P.S.  Did you guys see that guy pointing to the Florida Gators Santa hat during a timeout?  Ha ha ha!
