Why is everyone so obsessed with trading people? PITINO IS THAT YOU!?!?!?

If he's playing well then he is exactly what you need and there's no reason to trade him. Right now he's playing VERY well and he quite a bargain at 2.5 for the year.

Don't trade and ruin chemistry if its not necessary.

The way he is playing right now, I think Tony Allen is more valuable to our team than a healthy Marquis Daniels. Quis is steady, and a slightly better outside shooter, but Tony is faster, gets out on the breaker much better, and slashes to the hoop better. I think Tony is a slightly better defender too.

So don't trade Tony. He is finally healthy, let's enjoy the ride.

Yes, but thats the problem. He is finally healthy, and then He'll finally find his way back to wearing a suit for 48 mins. instead of a Jersey for 48 mins. pretty soon. I dont wish an injury on nobody, but I mean lets be real, Tony is gonna be hurt  within the next 5-7 games  or so.

You're starting to skid from your argument, and I'm annoyed by that. What do you mean he'll eventually get hurt? You mean before he "comes down to earth"?  ::)

I feel like you're trying to sell a trade that you know another team doesn't see as worth it beyond the already known fact that TA's an expiring contract.

We need Tony right now and he said himself he is not in total shape yet so his play could potentially get better.   Let's ride this out and see what is out there close to the trade deadline and see how Tony is playing over a couple months.  No team is looking at TA other than just an expiring contract right now.   If he continues solid play up through February then teams might look at Tony more than just an expiring contract.  I would only trade him then if we get an upgrade at the wing spot or a Gerald Henderson type trade for a future unprotected 1st rounder (if we are so lucky).   However we are going to need all the depth as possible the second half of the season so I wouldn't just trade Tony just for the sake of getting rid of him.

The only players we need to trade now are players who can stop the likes of Kobe and Lebron and another young, athletic and quick big.

If we can get a player like the ones who can stop either Kobe and Lebron for TA then I am all for it. Right now, we only have players who can deny them a pass and limit their scoring capability and at best wear them out the entire game like we did to Kobe in the 2008 Finals. If we can field a player who can instill fear on them - the likes of Ty Thomas - then let's go get that guy.

I agree with OPs premise.  But I fail to understand the rationale of the opposing gm in making this deal.  The C's are trading TA for a more competent, consistent, healthy 2/3, besides the expiring what his his value.

It seems unlikely to me that a team would try to trade a wing that performs at a higher level than Tony to save themselves $2-3M.  Unless they are that close to having enough cap space to sign a max contract player and think they have a legit chance of landing one of the big 4.

If TA is to be traded it would have to include Scal + to get a player of value for cap relief.  Considering BBD isn't in shape, Daniels is out and we have an older team, I'd rather not be trading depth at this point of the season.

Again I agree with the premise, I just don't see the value to the other team.  To me it is like Sox's fans screaming to trade for a game changing bat.  I think both teams would like an upgrade, but have nothing of tremendous value to offer (in the Sox's case they have more to offer, but not enough w/o gutting).

And before I get ripped for saying BBD is out of shape, I understand how it reads and want to clarify that comment.  I imagine from what I read he is in "shape."  But players are not in "game shape" and contribute at a high level coming off a 4 month extension of their off-season.

Yes its time for the C's to cut ties with T.A bad for us he isnt worth a 2nd round pick would would have to trade him with or best trade option Perk to get a 1st round pick maybe portland would take this deal since they are hurting. This would help them for the playoffs and wouldn't hurt us since we have wallace now.
