The broadcasters of the Celtics/Spurs game mentioned it several times and Ric Bucher mentioned it in his latest broadcast. Kudos to Red's Army for the article :

Quote
Via Celtics Hub (via Ric Bucher on ESPN NBA Podcast):

As for Sheed, I’ve got to tell you. The most startling thing–this is a guy who has always played his way into shape. But I went into the locker room after the game, and he took off his shirt, and I mean, I could not believe what I saw. I mean, he looked like a guy who is on the couch watching games with a bowl of potato chips and a six pack and not a guy who is playing a game. The roll I saw hanging off of his shorts—I’ve never seen it on him before and I can’t tell you the last guy I saw that had a body like that. He’s not Popeye Jones-esque, but it was a very, very bad look.”

And later:

The biggest risk there is that’s how you get injured–when you’re out of shape and you’re forced to play more minutes. And there are going to be cases where he’s gonna have to do that.”

TNT's Mike Fratello was the first to bring Sheed's conditioning into question (during Thursday night's game against the Spurs). He intimated that Wallace was about 15 pounds overweight.

What do you think?

Personnally, I had noticed that he looked a little fat under his jersey but not that much out of shape.

I still feel pretty good about his defensive efficiency so I will say that if he can defend that well out of the sape, he would be even better if he gets back into shape. Although he can be abused by other opponents like Beasley did with him but I think the youth vs age factor played a big role in that matchup.

Do you think Sheed is out of shape? If yes, can he lose this overweight during the season? Because this is usually something you lose in the offseason so it could be a cause for concern, especially since it really leads to injure yourself like Bucher said.

He did look Flabby in preseason, but I stopped paying attention shortly after. There was always that "He'll play him self into game shape" talk and I believed it. I don't like how this sounds, especially knowing he's signed for 3 more seasons.

Over the last few years, I've thought Sheed started off the season in his best shape of the year ... but his conditioning got progressively worse as the season wore on.

I wondered about this too based on his appearance, but there are some positive data points:

1. His "athleticism" stats (blocks and steals per minute) are at or above his career averages. In fact, he is averaging a career high in steals per minute. His rebounds are down, but not by much.

2. The Celtics' defense is only around 1 point worse with him on the court than off. Given that he's typically replacing a stellar defender (Perkins or Garnett), that is quite good.

Perhaps his poor conditioning is hurting his shooting? But that seems like the last place it would show up, particularly since he shoots a set shot rather than a J.

Could be hurting his legs on his jumpers.

That's true. I am just saying that his other numbers don't really fit the profile of someone who's markedly less mobile.

Another thing to consider, though, is that his minutes are way down. Even with poor conditioning he may be able to play effectively for 20 minutes, but it's possible that he would really start dragging if he played 35 per night. And given Perkins' and Garnett's recent histories, it is possible that one of them will miss a decent stint this year.

While he's not Ray or Rondo, I think this is over exaggerated.  Sure, he could stand to lose a few pounds, but his "out of shape" is still in better shape than Baby's "in shape" that people raved about earlier this year.

My only hope now is that he gets himself in better shape than he is now for the playoffs.  The next 60 games are just about getting ready for the playoffs.

Sheed is the black Scalabrine on the C's.  He could be in perfect shape and look out of shape.

He's not playing like he's out of shape.

I think a lot of it has to do with his build - he's got that skinny, Animal from Muppets type-body.  If you've ever seen a guy with that kind of build who has a pot belly, it looks really odd, which is probably why so many sports people have commented on it.

But I do think he's in worse shape than he has been in the past; hopefully he can play through that.  Don't think it's so bad that it's had a serious negative effect on his game though.

Sheed has never really looked "in" shape. Even when he was young without much body fat, he was never a model of physicality. He is getting older and probably has to work harder to keep the weight down. Hopefully he can make similar changes to what Pierce has done in diet and lifestyle to keep his weight down.

Dropping body fat can do nothing but improve defensive mobility and I hope he can find a way to accomplish that THIS season. I will chalk showing up with the belly fat to changes in metabolism rather than straight up laziness but that may be a stretch.

Come on Sheed...have you seen the shape your boy KG keeps himself in? Time to learn up.

Scal is in good shape the way fiddy is good with his money.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.
