Brandon Jennings slumping or returning to normal?

Jennings generates a lot of ball movement. He's a much better passer than shooter. He isn't a ball-dominant guard like, say, Chris Paul and Carlos Arroyo (to name a good one and a bad one).

I doubt anyone is actually seeing the Bucks games and doesn't see there's a lot of ball+player movement.

Jennings is a rookie that other teams are starting to pay more attention to defensively. 


Every game he plays, the more scouting on him NBA teams have.




How he adjust to this is the difference to a guy that was a great scorer in College (or HS) vs. a guy who is a great scorer in the NBA. 


As for slump or normal; we need to see a lot more.

Ultimately, I think it is a sign of the league adjusting to him, and realize they need to gameplan for him.  Now, he is going to have to adjust himself, and find the best ways to win without scoring 25 points a game himself.

Living in Madison offers me ample opportunity to see Jennings in action, and I think his problem IS shot selection. Does this make him a chucker? No, but it seems like too often he goes into plays thinking he has to take the shot and takes an ill-advised 3 from deep. Not to mention I've seen some ugly 3 balls from him, just form wise. I don't know what the deal with that is--maybe the schedule is getting to him--but he's gonna have to fix it if he wants to live up to the all-star potential he's getting billed with.

He's real young (20) so it'll come.  I expect erraticness on his part.  He'll learn to shy away from some poor shot selections.  If the Bucks could get a wing type slasher, it would alleviate Jennings and allow him to play more the type of game he's suited for.

I don't see him as an O.J. Mayo type, shoot-first PG.  Its just that his current situation forces himself to play outside his true game.  He's more of a pure PG than he has showed so far but once he gets some talent around him, I think you'll see his real potential as a floor general.

In his last 6 games, where he hasn't shot well he's made a bunch of threes, dished out 7 or more assists 4 times, averages over a steal a game, had 2 blks, and had a game with 7 rebs.  Most coaches would take that from a 20 year old rookie any day of the week.

Plus it's the Bucks. Where are the other teams going to focus their defensive attention? Michael Redd? Can't.  Who is he going to pass to? Hakkim Warrick?

He's just in a shooting slump. He'll get back up to a more reasonable 40 - 41% soon. You'd see how bad Rondo would slump if he started shooting threes or if he played for the Bucks too

I wouldn't consider this just a shooting slump.

He's not thinking properly because over those last 6 games he's been averaging taking 17 shots per game to average 14.6 PPG. That's horribly inefficient and even though I haven't seen him play but for just a bit, everything I've read says his shoot selection is not good at all and because of that he is turning himself into one of those inefficient volume scorers.

You are right though, his assist totals are looking much better. I wonder for those that have seen him play if this slump or whatever it is is getting to him and causing it to effect him on the defensive end where, from what I read, he didn't look so bad to start the season.
