Tony for Alexander. Bucks get the better player (especially if he starts). We get someone who will ride the bench happily and probably won't cause trouble.

Can't be too high an asking price can it?

It totally depends on what other teams are offering. don't you think there is some team out there with more the Cs to offer that is still high on this guy.

he's only had one year in the NBA...

I hope you're right that the price tag wouldn't be too high, but i kinda feel like someone still has him highly rated and has decent prospects to send out.

here's another question: what does MIL need?

what if Baby comes back healthy....could we move Shelden? Best case scenario would be a future first round pick and Walker or Giddens

Here's my thought on this: I trust Danny. If Joe Alexander has rotation player potential he'll go for it. If he does not, Danny will leave him alone.

Many think either he just can't play or that he may develop years down the road but would be no help now....I still would be intrigued by him. mostly because I felt like he was putting his game together coming into this season
Why the optimism on Alexander putting things together this season?

I didn't think he looked good during summer league -- same problems as seen in the regular season = defensive liability, non-passer, tweener stuck between positions, inefficient scoring -- I didn't hear much in the way of positive reports on his offseason either.

Joe Alexander....the white POB?!?!

He's already been told he is history in Milwaukee after this year having been the highest picked player ever not to have his rookie option picked up. That's, what, 16-17 months after being a number 8 pick. A player that high hasn't been basically discarded that fast since none other than Patrick O'Bryant and even though POB had whacko coach, Don Nelson trying to develop him, Nelson's assessment turned out to be correct. O'Bryant was useless last year.

Now Milwaukee has given up on Joe Alexander and we trust Danny to better judge and develop him? I trust John Hammond and Scott Skiles assessment. He's worthless and the only player I would trade for him is Tony Allen and that's because I hate Tony Allen's game so much I would take someone worthless to get rid of him.

  There's a short-lived record..

Alexander is just a terrible player atm. One of the rawest players I've ever seen in the NBA - at the start of last season, he wasn't even able to slide his feet correctly, something most 13 years old can do. There are complains about his work ethic, he's too slow to defend the perimeter, too small to defend inside, a terrible rebounder and not very smart. The only thing he does well is getting separation to get his shot off, but he ends up missing them anyway (doesn't keep balance). In the past Summer League he showed progress attacking the rim from the pinch post with 3 quick dribbles, but the competition was weak and the rest of his game was still appallingly bad. This guy had 3 months of college basketball where he played well above his head and that guaranteed him a high draft pick. Maybe] he can some day become a solid bench player (maybe, I'm not optimistic), but it's someone you can offer a non-guaranteed contract next season. No point in acquiring him now. Plus, he has been injured since the start of the training camp.

I don't think the POB comparisons are too far off.

You could come up with a similar laundry list with Giddens.

Alexander is taller than Giddens and has better offensive skills.  The chances are that neither one will have an NBA job after this June, but there's more hope of upside with Alexander.

I think they're similar players. Both are athletic old prospects, Alexander is a little more developed offensively and is bigger, Giddens is much better defensively and rebounding-wise (and never slept with the team dancers, AFAIK).

ETA: I think there are young players better and with more potential than both of them playing in Europe and in the D-League.

I'm not entirely sure that Alexander even has better offense than Giddens.  Everything I've heard about JR suggests that he'd be very tough to guard one-on-one, but that's not how the Celtics play.

Joe is big and he can jump, and that's about it.  There's not much about his game that I like.
