While I don't ever want to rule out any trade that might improve the C's, it does seem a little silly for us to be concerned about making trades that involve us trading away end-of-the-bench players for more end-of-the-bench players.  For me, the debate whether TA or Corey Brewer is better is moot since neither could crack the rotation here.

Plus, if the only circumstance that TA or Brewer gets in is an injury or a blow out, in the case of the injury, wouldn't TA be the better bet since he's been around and knows the plays and the players?

I think Corey Brewer would immediately be in the rotation for this team.  He is one of the best young defenders in the league, and a decent offensive player.  He also has shown in college that he thrives playing as a role player within a system.

Maybe on another team, but where exactly is he going to find minutes here?  So far no other bench player at the 1-3 has gotten meaningful, non-blow out minutes besides House and Daniels.  Is he going to displace one of them?  I don't think so.

That's because no one else has proven to be an NBA player.  The only other options have been Giddens (terrible), and Hudson (unproven rookie).

I guarantee you that as soon as Tony Allen is healthy, he will be playing 10-15 minutes per game as the 4th wing, allowing Pierce and Allen to get even more rest.

I don't understand why some people are saying Brewer is good... Are you confused with Ronnie Brewer? Cause yea, that guy's good.

Corey Brewer, though is awful. He chucks more than ANY player i've ever seen given his minutes. Yea he's putting up a good looking scoring number this season through his four games, but on well under 40% shooting.

The only time he even got past that 40% mark was once over 15 games before he tore his ACL last season, and that was still only 41% oh, and he's never been an outside shooter, honestly, in that category him and Tony are equal. They both are pretty not good at best.

He's a good rebounder, though. I'll give him that.
Corey Brewer is highly overrated.  He really isn't better than TA.  He was 6-21 last night and he's shooting under 40% for his career.  Thats not easy to shoot that badly!

I'm not so sure.  I could buy the notion that Tony Allen may average 10-15 mpg because there will be so many blow outs, but Doc certainly could get Allen and Pierce more rest right now.  For the season, Daniels is averaging 20 mpg and Eddie House only 16 mpg.  If Doc really wanted to rest Pierce and Allen 10-15 more mpg, he could just play Daniels and House 10-15 more mpg.

However, I don't think he wants to rest them more.  He's already on record saying that he's not going to cut their minutes.  If that holds up, there won't be room for a fourth wing except in blowouts when it really doesn't matter who the fourth wing is.

Ok, the idea of BBD for Yi was seemingly hated throughout CB...we'll leave it at that..

Since we all agree Tony needs to go, then how bout Corey Brewer. Still on his rookie contract, Minny recently chose to use the team option on him. Young slasher SF that likes to play D. Can hit the 3 at times.

Obviously Tony Allen is worth nothing without at least a draft pick and another prospect so add in Giddens here with a 2nd rounder and that should be able to get us Brewer? I love the team the way it is MINUS Tony. He'll be inactive all season at least get us someone better, plus Bill Walker will be out for awhile.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????/

Can Corey Brewer hit a 3-ball?

I was watching the Wolves @ Clippers last night, and in that last play they eventually swung it around to Brewer for 3 (which they needed to tie the game). Brewer looked like a deer in headlights, and the Clippers announcers (who were hilarious btw) said that Brewer is the T-Wolves' worst perimeter shooter.

Don't get me wrong, I'd trade Tony Allen for a 6-pack, but Brewer is very limited (yet we all like his enthusiasm on defense).

Between the SF, SG, and PG spots, we have 5 guys in the rotation, that's the right spread. Even if the trade happened, Brewer would be insurance. I can't see DA trading picks for insurance.

Daniels can easily handle playing 25-30 minutes off the bench given his positional flexibility, and House is good for 15. There is 144 minutes at those spots total. That gets you to 100-105 between the starters or an average of 33-35 minutes for those guys. Throw in blow out minutes and you're right where you need to be for MPG (considering Rondo will be playing on the high end for MPG.)

Most likely I'd see Corey eating into House's minutes, if at all. Playing in our offense would likely get him a lot more open looks, so I wouldn't be surprised to see his % go up. The only gap I see in our bench is a big wing for the occasional Melo, Lebron matchup - I don't think Corey is good enough yet to fill that roll.

I would have to see this to believe it.  Paul and Ray will continue to get 30 minutes unless it's a blowout and then who cares if it's brewer or Allen.

I question whether Brewer would see anything more than garbage time on the C's.

He's not as good as Daniels and House is always going to get minutes because of his abilitiy to score.

No one is saying Pierce and Allen won't continue to play 30 minutes.  However, there are still plenty of wing minutes to go around, if the right player is there.

I personally do not think Tony Allen is the right player, but Doc has shown over and over again that he wants to throw him out there.

But Corey Brewer is a better player than Tony Allen.

I think we ought to trade Tony Allen for Carmello Anthony. Alas, the salaries don't match.

Not to be a jerk, but how exactly are there "plenty of wing minutes to go around"?

Because for the record, they aren't playing 30 minutes per night, they're playing better than 35 mpg, and that's including two games that were blowouts.  And as I said in another post, Daniels and House are only playing 20 and 16 mpg respectively.  They're certainly capable of playing more minutes than that, so this isn't a case of Doc not having the ability to give PP and Ray a rest, it's a case of him not wanting to.

He's much better and younger and somewhat less injury prone.  I just don't think he would get minutes and obviously minny would never do the deal anyway.

I like the Allen for Anthony trade much more.

Yeah, I'm not in love with a trade at this point period, but why Brewer? I'd much rather have Nocioni...

It would be like going to sell Girl Scout Cookies to your co-workers only to have them discover that what you were really selling is the the Grasshopper Cookie box with a turd inside.

I'm glad someone bumped this thread, if only so I could see this stunning analogy that I missed beforehand.

The Clippers have the best announcers, outside of Mike and Tommy of course. They are the only other broadcast team I enjoy listening to. TP for the like-mindedness.

I really don't think Brewer is better than TA at this point.  At least TA gets to the line instead of throwing up all kinds of crazy shots.  Neither can shoot but at least TA knows it.
