I feel like we will be 'in the mix' for the next couple of seasons. The thing I worry about is playing our big three plus plus, too long and 'not' turning one of them into a high draft pick or some young talent. Specifically I mean Ray Allen if we dont win it this year. I know this isnt a popular opinion in some circles, but I think he is at the most easily (bad word) replaceable position.

The only way we keep him into his twilight years and continue winning is if he, KG and Paul take substantial pay cuts after next season. I just dont see that happening, besides I think Rondo is going to expect big money from Danny and we will likely give it to him to keep this group together.

Those factors will keep us from signing a big money FA any time soon.

I said one more year after this one.  It may be two, but I went conservatively.

However, I don't agree that we need to turn any of the current players into draft picks or young players.  If we can somehow set up Paul and Ray's extensions to expire the same year that KG's contract does, we can simply clear a ton of money that summer to sign replacement players.

I'd much rather go that route than start trading away players and wondering what could've been.

The only way to answer this is based on who we have right now, or at least that is the way I am answering it. If not, for all we know, we could have Lebron next year. That being said, we have two years with the current group assuming good health.

It will be difficult to just let them all walk if we win a decent amount and make the playoffs that year when they all expire. It will be just as tough to watch them struggle through that last year losing or being mediocre and having close to 60 million tied up in just three players.

I think ownership trades one or more as expiring at the onset of the second scenario rather tha letting it play out. If not, it may be tough to sign any top level FA IMO.

I have my doubts that they will all be ready to go the same year.

Window is unlimited, this is the greatest franchise ever.  After the Big 4 retire, more big names will come in to play for the Celtics.  They have a chance to win the title every year.

This year's team is the best we've had since 1986 ... seriously. How long our window will stay open depends on how long the Big Three stay healthy and effective, how well our young guys develop, and who we get when Pierce, Allen and Garnett retire ... in other words, impossible to tell at this point. As it stands right now, with everyone healthy, unlimited.

There are too many factors to tell really. The one thing I can say with certainty is that the window didn't close yet because this year's team has to be at least as good as that championship team.
I find overconfident no caveat "expert" predictions so tedious. Unless it comes with guaranteed lottery numbers or stock tips I don't pay attention. I'd rather spend my time watching the actual games.

I said one more season.

After that, I see us as a team that can win our division, but no longer an elite 60-win team. We could still make a run in the playoffs like Houston did in their second championship, but we would be real underdogs.

Of course, it depends upon our offseason moves.

Didn't Houston acquire Drexler for their 2nd championship run? If we can replace the old with the [somewhat] new, like Houston did, then the window could be 'unlimited'.

I think given our current roster, we have at least one more year. While I love our older players, I do hope we trade them at some point for younger more productive players- when the time is right. I don't want the 90s again...

They won two years in a row, and added Barkley for the third and failed. I'm not sure Houston is a great model.

I really don't care if we are in the lottery a few years from now. I just want more banners while we are legitimate contenders. I'll take another title over a Dallas-like run of success.

Uh, weren't we the greatest franchise already before the horrific 90s?

The 90's was just bad luck though, with Len Bias dying and losing out in the Tim Duncan lottery.
