I'm usually a critic of the fast food industry, but this is really an example of when people's misunderstanding of the food industry really pops up.  While it may seem bad, it actually has exactly the same amount of calories as the Big Mac (540) and actually nearly 300 FEWER calories than Burger King's Tendercrisp sandwich on a roll.

It's certainly not health food, but your average hoagie/sub/grinder and even your average restaurant salad likely have far more calories and fat that that thing.

This has some calories too, but I bet it's a lot healthier than those burgers ;)

But yeh, you're probably right :)

So you're the one who's gonna live forever, eh?  ;)

I was really surprised to hear it was "only" 540 calories.  I'd've thought it would be a lot more.  I guess we tend to forget how calorie-dense bread is.

But as far as being poison, half the reason I exercise and eat healthy is so I can drink good beer and eat bad food once in awhile without having to worry about it.  I don't know if I'd like this, but I'm definitely gonna take a crack at it sooner or later.

Fair points, all. I'm not above a beer or six myself every...uh...week? Three days? Definitely not every night  ;)

I just struggle with the fast food industry on so many levels. I'm not really willing to cut them much slack for shooting out something with 32 g of fat and all that sodium. Especially with the environmental costs of their operations and all the torture of animals that goes on in their factory farms.

And again, I hate to be defending KFC (I hardly ever eat there and will probably never try that sandwich); however, 540 calories isn't as much as many people think it is.  Even going low and looking at a 2,000 calorie diet (which is low for most men, especially if they exercise), if you have a 200-300 calorie breakfast, even having that sandwich for lunch would still leave you with 1,200-1,300 calories for a snack and dinner.  Now the problem is that many American will likely get two of them, fries, and a large coke, making the meal well over a thousand calories.  But if you just eat one, it's probably not much worse than most lunches the average person eats from a pure calorie standpoint.

If you're active, it's really not about the calories. It's about the constitution of those calories. Fat, sodium, little nutritive value.

Garbage in, garbage out.

  • Word aapp!

That looks like some good eatin'.

Excellent! Hopefully KFC will have this, and I shall post a review (finally) this weekend.

I'm 140 right now, afterwards I expect to hit the 170 barrier.

I finally tried one of these last night.  Has anybody else had the pleasure?

I thought it was...  okay.  Frankly, I missed the bread; bacon between two pieces of chicken didn't really do it for me.

It wasn't as greasy as I was expecting, but there was a crazy amount of salt.

Also, I'd be remiss to point out that this is currently doing a number on my GI tract.  Not recommended if you have court the next day.

Hmmm... haven't spotted that one over here in the big S. I'll look for it.

... because Burger King here is 1000x better.

Don't like KFC. I'm a Popeye's man myself.

Problem is, not a lot of Popeye's in my area so I only eat fried chicken when I make it.

That's the best kind, I think.  I'm just too lazy to make it.

And yeah, I prefer the chicken at Pop-Eye's, too, although I haven't had it since leaving NJ.

The only fried snack for the true New Englander should be fried seafood :)
