Alot of professional basketball players have big hands.  Larry Bird had big hands and shot over 90%.

I'm sure I could shoot 75% with a softball if I practiced long enough.

Exactly.

In a league of freaks the jump shot has taken a back seat. Watch and enjoy.
Shooting percentages have gone up over the years, and there are a ton of good shooters around the league. What's really happening is that the league is fully buying into the idea that you should be dunking the ball as many times as possible or shooting the 3.

Much ado about nothing.

First of all, for those who are bringing up the big hands argument, I specifically excluded them in the OP.
In the case of Rondo, he's only a young player.  Yet tell me his shooting hasn't significantly improved since his rookie year.  He's been working on it.  So has Glen Davis.  Even LeBron James wasn't a great shooter.  He's improved too.
It's the guys who have been in the league for years and have shown no improvement whatsoever that bother me.  And yes, it's mostly those guys who are so athletic, they get by without trying.  For example, a guy everyone here loves to hate, Tony Allen.
I have no doubt that LeBron could make it in this league if he couldn't shoot due to his athleticism.  But would he be an MVP?
In the case of Rondo, he doesn't bother me whatsoever.  He can shoot well enough to get by, he's just better off doing other things with the ball (namely pass and drive).
As far as some guys having more coordination than others, I get that too.  I don't expect every guy to be Ray Allen.  But even guys lacking coordination should be able to hit a mid range shot when uncontested.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

This is the funniest part. Players are better shooters today than 30 years ago.

I'm not one to seek flaws and find things to complain about in sports. But for those who are chronic complainers, this is not something to complain about.

It is always fun to watch players shoot around before games. It is shocking to watch guys who can't shoot in games bury mid-range jumpers.

My point is that some guys can shoot, but have problems in an actual game. If nerves are the difference, extra time in the gym might not help that. Sometimes you just have to accept that the players are humans and have their own shortcomings.
