What about this trade? sending Tony Allen to Washington

Bos. gets:
  Mike James
  Dominic McGuire

Was. gets:
  Tony Allen
  Brian Scalabrine

This trade allows boston to #1 get rid of Tony Allen......#2 get in return a reputable backup veteran Point Guard in Mike James, who can hold his own..and...#3 get a 23yr old. young athletic Big Man who avg.5 and 5 last year and who is vesatile in frontcourt lineups.

This trade allows Washington to get rid of a point guard-a position that is congested and frees up time for Javaris Crittenton, a returning Gilbert Arenas, Randy Foye, and Nick Young. And a Big man in Scalabrine who can step out and hit the 3, which seems to be a trend in washington (Jamison, Songalia, A.Blatche, Jared Jefferies. etc.)
All Players involved in trade have expiring contracts!

Anybody think Mike James may have been on the Roids?  If he were a baseball player I think everybody would already be sure of it.

Well, with enough of those bags you might be able to insulate a house, so that deal would probably be too good for us.

There is nothing in this for Washington.  Both players coming out of Washington are better.  Mike James is better and more valuable than Tony never mind off court issues, and Washington like McGuirre a lot, and they should, for all the reasons you listed.  McGuirre is very versatile, can fill up a stat sheet in almost every category, but is an above avg rebounder.  All that in the body of a kid means he is lightyears more valuable than Scal a player that does nothing well, never mind nothing great.

We have all heard a ton of Scal defenders over the years spew the same crap, team guy, works his butt off etc etc etc.  Really?  If he works his butt off why has he always come into camp looking like your neighbor?  Maybe he would magically gain a shred of athleticism if he would give his body a chance to see what it's like to have 8-12% body fat and a hint of muscle.

Can't wait till he is gone and I don't have to hear Celtic Nation dream up perpostrous reasons why he is valuable to the team.

A real work horse  ::)

I'd move Tony for Rick James, let alone Mike James.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Am I the only one who looked at just the title and immediately said, "Yes"?

Mike James is pretty awful at this point of his career. He was on 2 good teams in the recent few years (New Orleans and Houston) and didn't contribute anything there. All he is good at is padding his stats on bad teams.

I can't comment to much about McGuire, but is he any better then Bill Walker? It looks like he is a total liability on the offensive end and was given way more minutes then he deserved because Washington was so brutal. He averaged 4.5 points in 26 minutes last year. There's no way he would get any minutes with Rondo on the court. Walker at least shows the potential of developing a solid jump shot.

Meanwhile, we are giving up Scal who proved to be a reliable role player last season when our bigs went down and would be a nice insurance to have this year if something happens again. You know he'll be ready if called upon and wont complain when he isn't getting minutes. And I like TA more then most so I would say no to this trade.

I'm afraid will be stuck with Tony. Its sad after what 5 years Tony is less valuable than the bench seat he sits on.

I doubt the Wiz kids are done with Miguire. Plus as much as I'd like Tony's roster spot traded for anything other than Tony Allen, I've progressed into a Scalabrine fan after despising him and his contract last summer. As reliable PF, sometimes C against teams' backup bigs, and can hit that 3 back to back.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Tony Allen to Southwest Airlines for a bag of peanuts and a Vin and Tonic.

At least Southwest Airlines serves Boston now so I only have to pay for a T-ticket instead of a Bus fare to Manchester or Providence.
