Nothing big there, especially considering they've grabbed a couple Cubans in the last few months who can field the SS position. Decent depth there to give up a guy like him.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

Does anyone else think we should have waited and gone for Guzman?
I mean chances are we could have got him.

For all those who say Theo can't get a grasp on the shortstop position have a short memory. Did he not draft and develop the best one in the game?

If your referring to Hanley Ramirez, he was from Duquette.

meh.
I'm not all that impressed by the trade.  Doesn't help the Sox much IMHO.

[dang it], you're right.

But to be fair, Theo didn't want to trade the guy. Thats gotta count for something. ;)

I was always one of the people to talk about how bad Hanley was at SS, but this year he has really improved and has a positive UZR/150 rating at 1.6, a bit below Alex Gonzalez. As he gets bigger he may move to 3B or the OF, but he isnt a detriment to a team at SS anymore. Even if you want to go traditional stats, his fielding % in .978 with only 9 errors on the year.

Just for a laugh at how bad BJ Upton was at SS, his one year when he played there for 16 games his UZR/150 rating was -28.5, and it was -25.8 at 2B. Julio Lugo this year between St Louis and Boston has a -37.2! Thats as bad as ive ever seen for anyone who has played a good amount of games.

I dont really understand this move so much. Our lineup has been struggling mightily so we decide to trade for a defensive shortstop that could not hit five years ago?

Well i think the Sox have come to the realization that they are going to get zero offense from their SS's the rest of this year, so in their mind they upgraded defensively. I rather get good defense and awful hitting than bad defense and awful hitting.

Lowrie hurting his wrist last year really sucks, because in august of last year he was hitting .300 with alot of rbi's before the wrist became a real issue. It takes a long time to recover from a serious wrist injury so they arent banking on anything from him the rest of this year. If he does come back though i do expect Green to get DFA'd.
