He's claiming it's an over the counter substance.

Why would the NBA ban anything that's over the counter?  What if he just went to GNC and bought something to put on a few pounds of muscle?  That's illegal?  That doesn't make sense to me.
zin baseball, all players know that they need to clear all supplements with the league. There is no excuse for baseball players.

I do not know if the NBA has such a policy.
They have the same policy. If you don't clear the supplement ahead of time, you're taking it into your own hands whatever is in the supplement.

Right..but this isn't "my trainer shot something into my butt but i never asked what it was"..same ballpark, different intensity.

10 games is no small suspension. In the race for Eastern Conference supremacy, it's entirely possible that this could cost Orlando a few games and mean the difference between 1st or 2nd and 3rd. Yeah, Orlando made it to the Finals as the 3rd seed last year. But this year, assuming teams stay healthy, you're crazy if you think you're going to beat both Boston and Cleveland without home court. For this reason, this seems like a big deal (I could care less about the reasons for the suspension).
Sorry for the narcissistic bump, but I'd really like to hear peoples' thoughts on how his suspension might affect the pecking order come playoff time. Maybe it's just me, but this suspension could cost Orland a couple games, which could relegate them to 3rd seed. Maybe they were destined for 3rd anyway with Boston and Cleveland's upgrades...

I think you answered your own question.  Certainly this can't hurt us, and can't help them, but I have a feeling they're going to be #3 barring significant injuries to one of the top teams.

Have they tested Dwight and LeBron yet? I'm quite sure they'll both come back positive. I kinda hope so too. Then maybe the ridiculous hype surrounding LeBron might go away. Here's hoping anyway.

Stern won't shoot his golden goose. LeBron as we speak is probably getting ready to come into this season at 310+ and able to jump 6ft+....pretty natural right?

The I "unknowingly" took something excuse for me now falls somewhere between a goblin stole my homework and I couldn't call you because my cover was blown and I had to lay low while the CIA faked my death. Seriously I wish someone would say I was blackmailed or hypnotized into taking banned substances because I'd find that more believable and much less tedious.

Sry. Celtics fan for life but I love Rashard Lewis's game and I don't think it is or was tainted by this failed drug test. He took OVER THE COUNTER stuff. Who the heck would think there was much over the counter banded drugs per NBA? Bad move on his and his trainer's behalf, but I say he's honest to that and this is the end of that.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I don't see this really hurting the magic's ranking, they have a fairly easy first ten games with just the Cavs as the only main contenders in the ten.

As for the drug-taking, I just don't how this kind of thing happens. I believe him when he says he didn't mean to take it as a performance enhancer, but surely you have to make yourself aware of what you cannot take. At least go over it with your trainer to make sure it's accepted, really only takes one phone call or a cross check on the internet.  ::)
