Figured I would start this up since there is probably gonna be a good ammount of activity today.

6:45am: Mark Feinsand and Bill Madden of the New York Daily News say the Red Sox are in "full pursuit" of Gonzalez, and believe Boston could get Heath Bell too if they're willing to include pitcher Daniel Bard.  Also, Sean McAdam of the Boston Herald confirms that the Red Sox are more interested in Gonzalez than Victor Martinez.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that there are indications the talks were active late last night and will likely peak today.

It would be surprising if this were not the case, but Kevin Towers is asking for "a ton" in return for Gonzalez, according to Cafardo's source.

The teams are discussing Clay Buchholz, Lars Anderson, Jed Lowrie, Ryan Westmoreland, Justin Masterson and others.

A rival executive told Jon Heyman of SI.com he believes the Red Sox prefer Gonzalez to Victor Martinez.

If I was going to mortgage the farm sending Anderson, Westmoreland, and Bowden and Buchholz it has to be for a young star everyday player along the lines of Gonzalez or Hanley Ramirez. It's a better investment than sending the package to Toronto for Halladay.

Rosenthal is now saying the Indians are Pessimistic about their chances of trading V-Mart.  I know that until 4pm you cant take anything to seriously, but this coupled with reports on Gonzalez may mean that 3 way deal is cooling down

My two preferences are to either stay put as they are or get Adrian Gonzalez.

Not big on V-Mart and I don't want to pay through the nose for Halladay.

granted we are gonna have to pay through the nose for Gonzalez but he is younger and more controllable.  Long term solution

OK, here is my question.  Would anyone consider sending Youk to San Diego for Gonzalez?

Has that even been thrown out there as a rumor?

I was under the impression that Gonzalez would cost the Sox prospects, not established talent.

That would change my view of things but I hadn't heard anything of the sort.

I'm not a Red Sox fan. (go Cubs!)

I don't think it upgrades the team this year, so no. Because while Gonzalez would be better for the future the goal of this season is still to win this year right?

It was mentioned on WEEI a couple days ago, but not as a rumor, just a talking point.

But I think it would be an interesting scenario.  They both have similar production, with Youk being a better OBP guy, and Gonzalez bringing more power.  Youk's cost certainty may interest San Diego, while Gonzalez' youth would interest the Sox.

I absolutely don't think it has any chance of happening, just curious what people would think if it did go down.
