I don't want us to play on Christmas. Unless it's an easy game that we should win. Last year's loss ruined my day. I don't want that happening again.

as did it mine...rather have the day off to enjoy all the celtic gear i will get

I just think its unfortunate that we're gonna have to already start the season with all this "Kobe vs Lebron in the finals" talk and expectation.  It was hard to take for the last HALF of the previous season.  Now we're gonna have it rammed down our throat for the entire year.

Oh how I can't wait for more NIKE puppet commercials featuring Lebron and Kobe for the entire year. ::)

This potential schedule is just the NBA's way of trying to give Cleveland attention and momentum early on in the season for a finals run.

By forcing them to play the defending champs on Christmas Day?

Come on.

The ratings debate is one thing.  The idea that this is some sort of effort on the league's part to 'help' the Cavs seems to take this discussion out of the bounds of reasonableness.

Ratings, schmatings. "His Highness" gets plenty of TV exposure, and despite the Kobe-LeBron matchup, the Lakers and Cavs have as much of a rivalry as the Grizzlies and Clippers. Now that the C's are good again -- and after they battled the Lake Show in the Finals just two seasons ago -- I'd think TNT would want to milk that rivalry for all it's worth.

If I worked for ABC/NBA and my job was to bring in the highest possible ratings, this one was pretty much a no brainer...

Yeah, as soon as Shaq joined the Cavs--I KNEW this garbage was gonna happen---Stern and his refs will somehow top last year-as far as giving games to Cleveland.

You don't remember the Lakers beating us on Christmas last year, do you? I remember BS call after BS call...anyways, if the one word momentum doesn't settle well with you, just disregard it. However, there are many people who watched the games last year that understand how easy it still is for refs to make several bogus calls in an important game. Donaghy was not the problem: he was the fall guy for a problem that still exists today. David Stern conducted the referee investigation and  said that everyone else was clean...how seriously believable is that? Anyhow, agree to disagree haha.

  • Thank you Eddie!
At this point, I'm willing to bet a lot of money that it's possible for the C's to win 70 games or more and fly under the radar until the ECF.  I think I'm going to throw up if we get a season's worth of Kobe vs Lebron/Shaq Finals hype.  And we thought last season was bad.

I like how if any team other than the C's is playing, it's the league marketing the players, not the team.  It was league marketing that made Kobe win the championship, not that the Lakers are any good or anything.  Who on earth would want to watch the 2 best players in the world, who are also on 2 of the best teams in the world, who many believe will be in the 2010 Finals, play against each other on the marquee regular season game of the season. I guess the Celtics are the only team in the whole league.   ::)

Looks like the league has a pretty good history of playing good teams on Christmas day.  Anybody complaining is complaining over nothing. (If you want to argue the Lakers are all Kobe, fine, you can have that, but everybody else on my list other than the Lakers are teams and didn't have one indiviidual player marketed well above the rest).

Lakers/Celtics played Christmas day in 2008.
Spurs/Phoenix played Christmas day in 2008.
Suns/Lakers played Christmas day in 2007.
Pistons/Spurs played Christmas day in 2006.
Pistons/Spurs played Christmas day in 2005.
Pistons/Pacers played Christmas day in 2004.
Mavs/Kings played Christams day in 2003.

(In my opinion there are 2 prime time games on Christams day, the games above are from one of the two prime time games).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class
