Roy I know you said you thought the West was a stronger Conference than the east, but do you think there is a division out west that stacks up with the Atlantic?

The Atlantic is the deepest division in the league, I think.  It would be interesting to rank the top-3 in the Atlantic vs. the top-3 in the Pacific or the Northeast.

Certainly a diverse showing so far in the ballots.  Alot of the same names in the top 8 but in different spots.

Yes. I think that the Pacific is 3 deep though, and the Atlantic is possibly 4 or even 5 deep with playoff teams.

That said I'd take Phoenix Golden State & Buffalo over Boston Toronto and whichever of Philly/NY/NJ you prefer.

I think Philly Toronto and NJ would be a tougher matchup.  People discount Jersey, but they got alot of solid playoff experience on that team  No offense to Boston though, they are a solid playoff team as well!  Ya Atlantic! we got 4 teams in!

1.  Buffalo - Dwight + a well rounded team
2.  Houston - Can Monta adapt and distribute? Yup.
3.  Seattle - Timmy, will bring leadership and experience to his otherwise offensive team.
4.  Dallas - Not sold on Terry at the starting 2 spot but I like this team.
5.  Portland - Solid vet team.
6.  Phoenix - I really like this front court.
7.  Utah - If not for a hole at SG they'd be higher (Dunleavy is hurting bad)
8.  New Orleans - Kobe + high energy guys who want to win = playoffs.
9.  Golden St. - Dear Deng, will you ever remember how to play basketball again?
10. San Antonio - Solid Club. Who scores?
11. Memphis - Can I get the real Memphis instead?
12. Denver - T of A?
11. Sacramento - some nice pieces
13. Minnesota - some nice pieces
15. Las Vegas - T of A?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
ip who is your back up for big al?? Josh Mcroberts??

I said all this stuff in my press release.

Quote
However there are two other spots in my rotation that will get actual playoff minutes. They will go to one of Jason Smith and Kosta Koufos and one of Ersan Ilyasova and Josh McRoberts.

That is why I think the beginning of the season will be a little bit rough for me, but at the same time it will lay the foundation I need to turn it on later in the season. Big Al will start out at around 23-27 mins per game, and Oberto will be on the inactive list until around the all-star break. Those extra mins will go to the players in the paragraph above this.

While the Suns may suffer a loss or three, they will find out which of Jason Smith and Koufos will have the stones to fill about 10 mins of PF/C time when it matters, and which of McRoberts/Ilyasova can competently fill 10-12 mins of SF/PF time when it counts. These things are important.

I think between the 4 of those guys I can find 2 that are solid rotation players on an elite NBA team. Don't believe me? Well look at Glen Davis this past year. You need to have a trained eye for it, but the right players in the right roles can yield the right results. I think by the All-Star break I should have a team with 11 players confident and able of playing for an NBA contender. 11 players all able to step up if I need them, not crap the bed just because they haven't seen many mins in a week or two (Mikki Moore, cough).

To answer your question of "who's my backup at PF, McRoberts?"

The answer is "sometimes".

Sometimes my backup will be Jason Smith.

Sometimes it'll be McRoberts and/or Ilyasova

It will depend on A) Who they're playing and B) How they're playing

it will be a little messy at first, but every player I drafted besides Serge Ibaka (who I am hoping not to even play this year) has got NBA experience, has shown something within their NBA games that I think will help me, and I think is due to make a leap.

For instance, on McRoberts:

Josh McRoberts
Here is what Larry Bird said when they resigned Josh McRoberts:
Quote from: Yahoo
"We are very pleased to have Josh back," Pacers President of Basketball Larry Bird said. "He's another player who fits into the core group of guys we want to build around."

Here is what Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star said:
Quote from: Indianapolis Star
I've been hearing rumors about how Josh McRoberts has been living in the weight room this offseason.

I saw it with my own eyes when I ran into him at Conseco Fieldhouse earlier this week. McRoberts said he's put on 20 pounds of muscle since the end of the season.

The Pacers want to re-sign McRoberts, who appeared in 33 games last season.

A Pacers official told me they envision McRoberts being like Denver's Birdman. They like McRoberts' athleticism, energy and rebounding ability off the bench.

He's not a prolific rebounder, he's not a prolific scorer, but he's 6'10, with foot speed to guard almost all PF's. He's only 22, but I think he's gonna show something this year.

I don't understand the folks leaving Golden State out of the playoffs all together.  It's all subjective, but from where I sit, they're a playoff lock.

Dont see how Houston, Memphis, and Utah can be ranked over me when Memphis doesnt have a superstar let a lone 2. Chandler was only good cause he played for the knicks. Houston doesnt have a center and his bench is worse than mine. Utah has as many question marks on the bench as me if not more so if someone would like to indulge me on how there ahead of me. 4 out of 5 teams from the pacific should be in the playoffs.

You're crazy if youcall Hedo a superstar and not Tony Parker.

I can buy them out of the playoffs but not last... Its pretty nuts.  No TP lead team will come in last

A) Can you explain why you have Dallas over Portland and Pho? B)why you have Golden State out of the Playoffs?

I will take my answer off the air (while I drive to work)

A - I like Dallas and their high powered transition offense to run and win more games during the regular season. Also, I'm a big fan of Smith and Lee at the 4 and 5. Jason Kidd is still playing at an extremely high level.

B - Deng forgot how to play basketball at a high level, Maggette doesn't play team basketball as good as Nash and Okur don't play D. Who's a "winner" on that team? Where is the playoff experience?

Amare, Nash, Richardson, Shaq. Why didn't Phoenix make the playoffs last year in the real NBA?
