Here is my case.

1.He is 23 years old.
2. Incredibly Athletic.
3. Has 4 years in the league.
4.  Kevin Garnett will bring out the defense in him.
5. We can get him for short money.
6. He is more mature now (if not the team will make him mature) and we can re-develop him.
7. He only needs to play 10-15 minutes a game to back up PP.

You have to admit, when he was first playing we all were a little hopeful about him and a little intrigued  about his potential.
At the time, we didn't need another young immature player so it was good to get rid of him.
Now we have a talented veteran team that can teach him how to be a pro.
I think there is a huge upside with little risk to bring him back.
What do you think?

You might get killed for the Gerald thread, but truth be told, I'd prefer Gerald over Giddens. And oddly enough Gerald is actually younger.

After the drama last week with everybody saying we shouldent have politics threads on the blog, I think Gerald Green threads are far more volatile

I'd consider it if the minimum salary substantially decreased this year, because as a Celts fan, I'm not willing to see my favorite team waste any money on this guy. He doesn't understand how to play the game. For $500,000 he'd be a good 15th man, but I don't think salaries go that low. So I'm not interested.

I knew I would get some flaming but, the possibility of Green is very interesting.  He has a ton of potential and with this group of great veterans it can only make him better.  Last time we had him the circumstances were not conducive to developing him or any successful outcome

1.He is 23 years old.

And have an 11 year od brain..hey even newer

2. Incredibly Athletic.

but couldnt win second slam dunk contest.

3. Has 4 years in the league.

And almost no playing out of garbage time experience

4.  Kevin Garnett will bring out the defense in him.

just like zero.

5. We can get him for short money.

for the NBDL team? wait he dont qualify for that one anymore

6. He is more mature now (if not the team will make him mature) and we can re-develop him.

Last time I check him playing he was doing the same face he did in boston while missing a basket. remember that? i am sure u al, and just thinking about this makes me soooo mad i want to kill someone...

7. He only needs to play 10-15 minutes a game to back up PP.

he can play 12 in 4th quarter garbage time and make us lose the game doing it.

The Dallas situation was different.  The Celtics group is more stable and has a solid identity.  A young talent can thrive in this environment.  The Celtics collective group environment will make him better. Or any young talent for that matter.

He's been in the league 4 years, given many oppurtunities, and still is what he was.

At this point, he's the Gerald Green of old.

No flaming from me. I'd take Gerald over Pruitt (though I know they're different positions), and I'd have to think very seriously about whether I might even prefer him to Giddens. He's still younger than Giddens, he's still more athletic, and he does have more experience, though his basketball IQ is less than desirable. I really liked Gerald when we had him, and I don't think it's fair to write him off. We didn't have the same veteran presence to help young guys develop back then. He was playing with a bunch of kids and there wasn't time to develop him the right way. I haven't followed him in Dallas, but I'd wouldn't mind taking him in place of one of the other young guards and just giving him a shot for one year.

It's not going to solve our problems; he can't be PP's backup, he can't be a 2nd string player and probably not a 3rd string for a while yet, but I'd still take him as a young, developing project.

Gerald has some physical gifts, no doubt. But championship teams don't need to take longshot flyers just because we drafted the guy.

He's played for 4 teams in 4 years, and nobody wanted to keep him. He's an atrocious defender known for his lack of work ethic and has no discernable skill other than scoring. Unfortunately he has no handle and possibly the worst shot selection in the league.

Sorry, if would be a great story if he pulled it all together, but I wouldn't give up a single guy on our roster for him. He's been terrible his entire career and shown no sign of changing.
