Sup guys,

I'm happy that Sheed is finally in the green and all but I think this move was really Ainge being desperate after seeing that other top teams added quality players to their team. Don't get me wrong, Sheed is a helluva player but I really don't think we needed a player of his caliber. We have a real good center top 10 center in the league easily that being Perk, we only needed to get some back up center whos a shot blocket and a banger. Sheed is not that. He can do fade-aways, hit 3's - is an average defender and not so good rebounder or shot blocker. We need someone like Anderson Varejao or the Birdman. At this point I think Lakers have advantage over us big time with Ron Artest.

PG - Fisher
SG- Kobe
SF- Artest
PF - Odom if he stays or whatever
C - Gasol

And I really don't want to talk about our bench. So far this off-season, C's organization get C

I think you don't understand Sheed as a player at all.

Bizarre title to the thread.

Of course he will help. He is a better backup big than any we had last season.

You should focus on the opinion that he isn't enough and that other teams may still be stronger.

Wallace was the best big man defender out there.  He fits perfectly into the team oriented offense.  He provides a clear difference to Perk in terms of how other teams would have to match up.

I don't see the logic behind this statement.  Is he too good for our bench?
Yup

I think you don't understand Sheed as a player at all.

based on his eval of sheed's strengths and weaknesses, i have to agree.

saying he's an average defensive big man at best and bad rebounded alone show's limited knowledge of the player.

I think he means that he would prefer a physical hard rebounder type underneath?

That is always the clarion call for teams but there really aren't that many who truly fill that role anymore.   You may want to look at it that having to many bodies in the lane can crowd the area for the more consistent scorring of PP, for ex.

The Celtics can still add that at a cheap price.  Skinner, Nest and even a Jones (I do love the Saint Joe's guys) could provide that as the 5th big man.

Is this even a question? Even without Sheed, the Celtics by a far margin are better than the lakers. Our only setback was the reserve. If we had a choice, we would've taken Grizzlies bench than ours. This summer is all about getting as much help to improve the bench. Sheed>>>Ron

doubly so if the lakers don't resign odom.

I think they will, but i don't think it's 100% certain yet.

That same statement struck me as weird. He is a guy that can still start for most teams in the league and we have him to play 6th man minutes and finish games.  Where is this bad?

I think if both teams are healthy, the rasheed signing makes the Celtics better than the lakers. Think about the lineups against each other in crunch time...

PG Fisher vs Rondo
SG Kobe vs Ray
SF Artest vs PP
PF Odom vs Sheed
C  Gasol vs KG

and you can sub in Perk if need be. But I think this Celtic lineup will be far too physical and cohesive for the Lakers in the end and I am plenty confident with Sheeds ability to add the the defensice scheme. Don't forget that Tom Thibodeau is still with us.

taking his entire post in contest I think he meant style not caliber.

Having a big that can shoot the deep ball will be amazing for Rondo. Just think of how good Rondo and KG work together, Sheed and KG will space the flow, allowing Rondo to drive past almost every PG in the league and either take it to the hole or kick it out. Expect a big rise in Rondo's stats from this one move alone.
