That was my one "character" concern with Rasheed, too.  He quit on his team last year, which was disappointing to see.

Let's hope it was a one time thing.  Throughout his career, he'd always played hard up until that point.

People had the EXACT same concern with Randy Moss

Moss is one example where it worked out (although he seemed to loaf a bit last season with Brady down).  How many contrary examples are there, though?  Generally, quitters quit, and others don't.

And also, why is nobody giving AI, Hamilton, Prince, Stuckey, or any of the other Pistons crap.  They were a HORRIBLE team with a HORRIBLE coach, and a HORRIBLE situation.  AI completely quit, Hamilton pouted and moaned on the bench and tried to score every time he touched it when he finally started.  Prince looked terrible, and Stuckey looked more like a rookie than his rookie season, but everyone looks at Sheed because A) we signed him and b) he has the "attitude problem.  Granted not all guys on bad teams quit, but I would put money down that he shows up next season.

BIG SIGNING.   Be thankful.

i tend to think that Wallace will not continue to be a quitter. Generally, if a person has a pattern of quitting, no situation can prevent them from quitting. But Moss was a very competitive player who got sent into a terrible situation in oakland and just gave up and started playing again when it was fun and competitive.

I think Sheed's situation is similar. he's been very competitive his whole career, then to see Dumars ship out billups in a thinly veiled rebuilding effort (let's be honest, Iverson wasn't anything more than an expiring contract with a name he could sell to fans), he must have seen that they didn't have a chance last year and that he was not wanted back because detroit was going after cap space, so he didn't give his A effort. totally reasonable.

After the billups trade I would have given up on the team as well.

Yup, Dumars traded away their best play, leader, and captain in Billups for salary cap relief. Obviously, he had given up on the season. I can't blame Sheed for doing the same thing. This C's team is going for the title, and Garnett will be in his ear. I have no doubt that he will give 100% every night.

That whole DET team quit last year. Did you watch any of their playoff series with CLE? They could not have been more apathetic.

there are different qualities of quitters, though. For true quitters, I think you find them having teammates that don't like them, etc...

but Rasheed is almost universally liked by his teammates.

I don't see it as declining. first and foremost DET was an entirely dysfunctional team post CB trade.

I hope it wasn't decline.  If it was apathy, there's a chance he could bounce back and perform better next season.  Obviously, if it was decline, that's not going to happen.

He was already bad in 07/08.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.
