Who might actually help come the playoffs next Spring?

Quote
"First he said it was money issues ... then he said I'm going to take up a roster spot and that he's not and the owner's not willing to wait," Powe said. "He said they've got a two-year window to win the championship and they wanted someone who could play right away."

"They gave me a lot of reasons why. It's not like I'm asking for $30 million a year. That would be hard," Powe said. "Just give me something for one year, just to show y'all that I'm going to work hard and when I come back I'm going to be right."

"I thought, 'I've been with the team, they know me, they know I'm a hard worker. I've done everything I've been asked. I was playing hurt when I did it,'"‰" he said, referring to the anterior cruciate ligament injury.

"They told me I need to go find another team. I didn't think they'd do anything like that."
"You always want to be somewhere you're appreciated. At that time I didn't feel appreciated," he said.

"I got a lot of motivation right now," he said. "I love the work, it's just a challenge for me. I've been down this road. It's nothing new.

"I ain't got no doubts. I know as soon as I get back on the court I'm going to be ready to play and play good."

Yikes, what is management thinking? Is there something wrong? Yeah... it's just too bad we don't know what it is. And I want to find out, because I cannot understand the money obsession the C's have. Playing hardball with Posey, doing basically the same with Rasheed and Baby, and now this? So what's our bench gonna look like?

And as a 15th guy we're not talking about a veteran even as good as Mikki Moore. We're talking like Mike Sweetney. The good veterans sign to be a 6th, 7th or 8th man.

Leon, even on one knee, would be our 15th man. Hopefully he'll get better sooner and re-sign in mid-season.

From Leon's comments, I am not sure he wants to sign with the Celtics in the future.
I hope I am wrong, but it doesn't sound like the Celtics left it open for possibly signing him later.

How are we playing hardball with Rasheed or with Baby? How is management even cheap? Did you see our payroll last year?

What we did with Baby is par for the course. Now we either wait and match someone else's offer, or we negotiate and re-sign him ahead of time. I expect that BBD wants to test the market, as this is what he has said all along.

"Money obsession"? I don't see it. We are not one of the teams dumping contributors for cap relief.

3 year, full midlevel for Posey? Quite a bit more than he's worth... hardly hardball, especially considering that we're in freaking tax land. New Orleans is currently regretting signing him.

Sheed? The offer is clearly not the issue at the moment.

You know what would've been awesome from Celtics' management? To tell Powe, "hang in there, we'll sign you later" and then not do it... when Powe should've been looking elsewhere for work.

What I find hilarious is that just about no one here is willing to go full MLE on Baby, when he did way more for our team during the playoffs than Posey did.

20% think the 58th pick in this yr's draft and a rookie who's never played against competition will provide more in the playoffs than Leon  :o

I said vet min type player - if all our eggs are in the basket for the next 2 years or so, why develop guys we're not going to resign? bring in vets who won't care about minutes and just want to win - and then its an insurance policy if someone doesn't work out or gets hurt

You think any decent vet will take a 15th roster spot gig? The only vet that could give us anything quality and would be willing to sign for the 15th spot would be some rehabbing player like...

Exactly my point. And Toppers won't give us anything in the playoffs!  :P  Though he did get a TP from me.

I'm sure I could contribute more than Mikki Moore... and I'm 14 years old 5' 10" 140 lbs. I think I might weigh more than him too  ;) lol

You're looking at this all wrong. If we sign a vet it would be so that he could compete for a roster spot. TA and Scal can easily go down the depth chart outside of the 12-men for example.
