After ending last night with Milcox saying the Spurs have the best chance to land Wallace, I am ready to push.
Everyone is too ready to freak out about competition for Sheed. Its not the end of the title run if we don't sign him!

Because as these agreements keep happening, the Celtics are slowly dropping down the projected rankings. The teams around them are getting stronger.

Not to mention other teams in the East are going to be tougher like Washington.

Only if there are no other options to improve the C's bench out there remaining. Right now there are several other players that the C's could sign and still have a good off season.

no idea? i watched walker play last year when he was forced into action. he isnt a guy that can give boston the minutes needed at the wing...as for giddens...it is obvious he is behind walker because he wasn't even considered when boston needed bodies. he was sent back to the D league. those 2 are not the answer.

there are guys they could sign but by the time sheed decides it is going to be too late. nobody will be left to sign much like last year while magette strung ainge along.

Well it seems unlikely at this point that Hill is coming.

So that leaves...Dice. Who I am not all that excited about. Would prefer Wallace who can slip in at the 5 easy.

Oh and this quote by Ainge;

"Ainge spoke highly of a minimum contract signing earlier this week when he said, “sometimes those are the players who work out the best.”"

Has me worried that this offseason is going to end like last.

sheed can spell KG and perk...he also can hit threes and pull the other center away...if perk goes down mcdyess isnt big enough to play the 5 and i don't want KG playing the 5. that is why sheed is a better fit than mcdyess...and there is nothing in stone saying that dice is even going to come to boston. they need to seal the deal with sheed

i fear too danny is going to wait until august to pull some guys that are on the scrap heap and try to sell them as important keys ala POB...

Exactly, just offer him the 3rd year FFS.

By the time Sheed makes a descision Dice and anyone else of value will be gone.

Looks like Sheed is going to SA and ORL next week.  You guys are exactly right.  He's gonna draw this out and then choose SA ... he'd be stupid not to.  A starting role and no state income tax.  Although living in SA sure would suck.

Thanks for the answers.

I know that I sound pessimistic/fatalistic with this thread but I don't want to be disappointed even before the season starts by watching other contenders improve a lot while we're stuck with our current situation (great starting five - no bench).

If you don't push the panic button, I'll push to it... :p

No, seriously, I don't wanna push the panic button but things are not how they should be IMO! You have to adjust!! This season we might have won it if KG was healthy, but still we had basically no bench! It's OK to have a plan, and obviously our plan was to keep the roster as it was and stuff, but when your rivals get so much stronger, YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW!! When you neither rebuild you roster nor you acquire some decent veterans to fill in your bench "holes", what are your expectations after all??
"Life has so many hurdles. Some of them I've hopped over, some of them I've tripped over. The key is to get back up and finish the race."- Paul Pierce

And he did finish...

Never panic. What would be the point?

If you can't take the heat...

Really? Are you serious? The Celtics have no reason to panic. The Suns did a trade they would never even look at it if it wasn't for CAP Relief by trading Shaq, Vince Carter going to the Magic was for obvious reasons as well, and the whole Artest signing with L.A, Ariza going to Houston isn't even that big in my opinion. Ariza is overrated and got into a lucky situation with a team that would have one the title without their bench.

We have no reason at all. Turk has signed with anybody yet, although we won't want him and of course we can't get him. There is a huge possibility of Sheed signing with us. He is getting to that age were he knows he isn't the best player of the team, his time has come and gone, now he wants to submit he legacy by winning titles. He is great buddies with KG, Allen and Pierce but went with Danny Ainge to meet with Sheed, they clearly want him. He gets 5.2 Million a year on a 2 year contract, he has a huge chance of signing with us.

Not to mention we still have a chance of signing Hill, Barnes, Parker, etc if we don't manage to get Sheed. We picked up a steal in the Draft out of UT Martin in Lester Hudson poppin 27.2 PPG in one of the toughest conferences in College Basketball when it comes to the smaller schools. No reason to panic what so ever.. especially how we still might trade Ray Allen ( Which breaks my heart ) for a potential young superstar..
