Last night on CSNNE Felger mentioned how Leon played on a torn ACL for several minutes during that Chicago series

Now, praise for the C's from Felger is rare, but definitely warranted in this situation

Leon ultimately chose to risk his career by playing in the postseason, and all he get's in return is a kick-out the door...ouch!

Leon desrves better, after risking his career for his team/teammates, which is more that another PF on this team was willing to do

But did Powe know he had torn his ACL?  I was under the assumption that he played on it for a few minutes because he didn't know he tore it?  If that's the case, I'd say most players would've done the same thing.

Tanguay said last night that he head a "pop" and refused to remove himself from the game

Not something most athletes would put themselves through
A true Celtic.

Yeah... after hearing that... I think we should also give Kevin McHale a contract.  He played for us in the late 80s with a broken foot, right?  He's not working at the moment... lets give McHale a "thank you" contract.

The C's are allowing Powe to continue his rehab, with full access to their medical staff and facilities.  Unfortunately, he is not owed any more than that.

Once again, this is a business, and they cannot afford to be sentimental.

What Powe did was gutsy (if not stupid), but it was his choice, and in no way makes him any more deserving of a guaranteed contract than anyone else.  The Celtics did not make him stay out there.  They did not make him come back early from his injury.  Players have the right to determine whether they are ready to be on the floor or not, and he made a mistake IMO, which has cost him a lot of money.

It is sad, because if anyone deserves to have a couple good breaks, its Powe, but the Celtics do not owe him anything more than they owe every other player who has suited up for them.

I hope (and still believe), he will be back in green.  I think all of this talk of him going elsewhere is premature.  It just is too early for them to throw money at him.
