Ike Diogu would be a great fit for a cheap price. He is a good player, but just hasn’t gotten a chance to play yet. I definitely think he could fill the Leon Powe role to perfection.

. The last 2 games of last year when he actually got a chance to play he scored 32 and 28 Points. He can be had for the vet min and could really help!!

If he got maybe 25 mins per game I think he would be a 10/10 machine. I'd like to see him in green.

I have always liked Diogu.  He reminds me of a mixture between Al Jefferson and Leon Powe.  He is an undersized big at about 6'8  but plays a lot bigger.  He is a very gifted low post post player, but im not sure about his defense.  With some tips from Garnett im sure this kid could be a great backup off the bench.

It's now FOUR TEAMS that he hasn't been able to get on the court for.  Maybe he's a player and he's played for four dumb coaches, and I was really intrigued with him when he came out of college...  but if they don't re-sign Powe and take up his roster spot with Diogu, I'm going to be angry.  Dude's going to be 26 in a couple months, he ain't a kid that you're still hoping to develop.  What are you seeing in him that every one of his NBA coaches HASN'T seen?

yea it wouldn't make any sense at all to sign a healthy guy at a cheap price that is very similar to Powe , rather than signing a guy who is injured until at least the all star break......

He keeps getting traded as a cap filler to match salaries. It is tough for a young player to get acclimated if this keeps happening. Why not give him a chance at the end of free agency for the minimum?

Powe's a proven NBA player; Diogu is not, he's a guy who has gone from lottery pick to trade throw-in.  Powe's hurt, sure, but he should be back well before the playoffs.  If they decide they can't chance it that Powe can contribute, I can deal with that - IF his roster spot goes to someone who can help.

Didn't we learn anything from The POB Experience?  While it's not an absolute, more often than not when a guy's not gettting ANY playing time, there's a reason (more often being "he's not any good" than "his coach is an idiot").

Excuses.  If he were anywhere as good as they expected he's be coming out of college, he  wouldn't be just a cap-filler.  He was "playing" for Sacramento, a horrid team, and they didn't feel the need to at least see what they had with him until there were two games left in the season?  What am I missing?

I'm holding out hope that Doc can persuade DA to sing Powe to the vet min. in August. Leon is a great player and a valuable team  member. Great Locker room guy.

I'm holding out hope that if they can put togther a "poo-poo platter" package for someone like Nochioni (sp?), they'll clear enough roster spaces where maybe there's a spot for Powe.  Ainge's comments aren't encouraging, though.

Ike Diogu is garbage plain & simple! I just watched him play last week upclose & personal in Arizona's Juneteenth B-Ball tourney & he couldn't dominate young ex-highschool stars & older players including myself (I scored 9 pts on him in the post at 6'4")so I wouldn't want that on my Celtics. He has a nice shot from 10-15 ft. but the NBA money & experience definitely killed the once hungry player I thought had a chance coming out of ASU. He has gained fat & not muscle, and he also doesn't seem to be a active rebounder he was at ASU. I say there is alot better options at this point for the C's plus he is only 6'8" & a cant play any other position than PF & cant block shots.

leon may be a one of a kind right now(when healthy). a healthy leon is tough to replace.

I saw Diogu play against Powe a couple of times in college and Ike was virtually unstoppable. He's more skilled than Powe offensively but there's only one Powe when it comes to relentless desire.  I think the last two games of the King's season are more indicative of the type of player Diogu is than some summer league BB tournament in Arizona, even if he only managed to hold you to 9 points.  :)

Maybe we take a flyer on Sweetney until Leon gets healthy, then we re-sign Leon in January. I would rather have Leon than all these guys.

I think re-signing BBD is mor3e and more likely, provided that no one makes him a outrageous offer.
