Any chance Portland gets in on this type of a deal?I think Kidd would be a great fit on that Blazers squad.Quote from: LarBrd33 on July 01, 2009, 01:28:31 PMBill Simmons is going to flip How so? What did Bill Simmons want to happen with Kidd this summer?

What did Bill Simmons want to happen with Kidd this summer?Actually my first reaction was probably dumb. Simmons is known to bash Cuban for trading for Kidd in the first place. I figured he'd flip that Cuban was now paying the guy well more than anyone else would pay him. But in reality it makes sense, because if Cuban let Kidd walk, it just makes that trade seem even more nuts (giving up Devin Harris for a one year rental of Kidd). Cuban HAS to retain him, I guess.

Agreed, this seems kind of like Cuban making sure he keeps Kidd, so that he doesn't look bad. Nine million a season is stupid money though, no one else would have offered him over the MLE.
Quote from: Jeff on July 01, 2009, 01:56:40 PMMark Cuban always overpays, that's his thingYeah, I'm just surprised he's making such a rash move so soon. Andre Miller isn't that big of a downgrade at PG is he? Supposedly he is looking for only the MLE. He's three years younger than Kidd but still a veteran and leader. He averaged 16.3 pts, 6.5 assists, 4.5 rbds, and 1.3 steals last year.He seems like he'd be a good fit, and they will be paying a 39 year old Kidd $9 mill in three years.
