I'd like to see him with the Thunder as this link implies as one of his possible destinations.

The Knicks amaze me.  They could have traded him for so many guys, instead they let him walk.  Hell, they probably could have gotten a draft pick or two for him.  It's not a suprise some teams always suck.

I'd love for NY to end up with nothing in 2010 after all this.

Yeah, how awesome would it be if LeBron, Bosh, and Wade all stayed with their teams next summer?

they wouldn't end up with "nothing".  New York will always be a top free agent destination.  Freeing up cap room is a logical move for the Knicks even if all 3 of those guys leave.  Eventually some star is going to say, "oh ok... so I can get paid max money and I can be a star in the top top media market... done"

Well normally superstars in their prime don't leave teams via free agency with the possible exception being next year.  They usually leave via trade and the Knicks don't have much of trade assets.

In the history of the salary cap how many big name superstars signed as a free agent with the Knicks in their prime.  I can't think of any.

Have a hard time seeing how Lee would pick Memphis' money over OKC's.

If Lee does sign with the Thunder, I hope Danny would ask about the availability of Nick Collison. A package of expiring contracts would not only free OKC of Collison's contract through next year, but could also help them get further under the cap for this year.

Donnie Walsh badly mishandled the trading deadline. David Lee and Nate Robinson both should have been shipped out, getting rid of Jeffries' deal in the process and bringing back some cheap talent.

Donnie got caught in between two different plans and forgot which one was the important one. Bad management.

Well, this is pretty much waving the while flag on 2009-2010.

I don't envy the position of a Knicks fan right now.  You're pretty much giving up on '09-10 before it starts and there is absolutely no guarantee that they will get a top notch free agent in 2010.

Thank god, we're not in this position.

They should have packaged him with Eddy curry and tried like hell to get an expring contract... But to let him leave for nothing? It doesn't make sense.

The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards a sign and trade in the works.

Houston might be a good destination. As I mentioned in another thread, with Ming going down they need big men. Lee and Curry could land the Knicks Tracy McGrady.

Any idea what kind of contract Lee is looking for?  He's already a double double guy and still very young.  Could the Celts be interested? (Despite the fact that they are definitely gonna sign Sheed ;))

I would say he's an $8 - $12 million dollar man.
