I'm curious about Marbury returning to the team. It would be interesting to see where his game is at after training camp, and hopefully his shot and offensive prowess will come back to him.

I'd be okay with it. It wouldn't be my first option though, that would be keeping House as the backup PG (and Pruitt as 3rd string) and putting in efforts to improve the rest of the bench.

Sheed for the MLE, Marbury for the LLE, trade Scal and TA for a wing guy (like Nocioni for example), resign BBD, and then hope Walker and Giddens show some growth this year.

That would be a great off-season IMO.

Sheed for the MLE? Way too much. If he doesn't want the vet min or a little more than that then he can sign elsewhere.

Marbury back for LLE would be absolutely great, I hope the Celtics re-sign him! Nice mindset from Starbury.

I´d love to have Marbury back.  His shot didn´t fall for a good portion of the season last year, but he started to warm up in the playoffs.  I think after a full training camp with the team he won´t continue to be afflicted with the same slump he was in before caused by his year without playing.  Beyond all that, he showed an overwhelming desire to play team ball, almost to a fault.  But I really was impressed with his pass first mentality (which is not what he was famous for before coming here.)  He was an exceptionally good passer for us last season in my opinion.  I´d take that on our team again anytime.  In short, he seemed humble and willing to play within the system and he´s way better than almost any other "back-up" we could find in free agency.

I was thinking the other day about all these guys I´d love to have (though most of them are urealistic scenerios like Artest, Rasheed, Marbury, or Marion) and I was starting to wonder, with 3/4 stars already on the team, how will more big personalities effect the chemistry of the team?

Great point, and you have to wonder this. I hope Doc and the likes of Garnett can push the personalities aside. Ray, Paul and Kevin all had to sacrifice something for #17, the same will have to be said for Rajon, possible Stephon and whoever else comes in if we're to capture #18.

I think this makes a lot of basketball sense here, and is a good move by Danny.  Marbury played decently well last year.  He passed up some big shots, and looked spotty, but his defensive effort was there, and no one found Eddie House better.  After a full training camp, I'm expecting him to come in with better confidence and a little more offense.  If he finds his shot, that's a plus also.  I think bringing him back for cheap to take up the small chunk of minutes that Rondo requires a backup to play is a smart and affordable move.  It leaves us with the flexability to sign a SF and a PF/C which are larger and more glaring needs than backup PG.  Anyone with me?

Come on now. Sheed may be older but he's a much better player than the type that sign's for the minimum maest :D

would be nice if he did and kept our MLE open though   ;D

Rasheed is a perfect fit and worth almost all or even the whole MLE IMO.  We lacked a backup F last season, and even if KG was healthy and only Powe went down (still a question mark this year), we got no offense and no defense off the bench in the post.  Sheed does both of those REALLY well, and he still has a lot to give.  Last season, the entire DET team looked awful when Iverson arrived.  Sheed would play much better with a chance for a ring.  He blocks shots and has the height and body to bang with the bigger guys, and the length and speed (not great, but good) to defend some of the smaller PFs.  He also stretches the D as well as any true big man, and is a very good back to the basket post scorer (which helps, since KG is our only real back-to-basket scorer, and that's not even his strong suit).  I think it would be worth it.  Then the LLE can be used on a guy like Grant Hill (or a lesser name but decent player) if we can, or we move some contracts for a SF.  I think that makes a GREAT offseason for this team, and hopefully a banner.

I'd be interested, but only at the minimum.  If the Sheed rumors are true, he's going to command the entire MLE.  That leaves the LLE for a backup 2/3.  Thus, unless Danny somehow handles the 4/5 and 2/3 issues with just the MLE, we won't be able to give Marbury more than minimum.

And I don't think he's worth more than that, not so much because of his talent, but because I don't think we need to make a big investment at a position where the backup is only going to see 10-12 mpg in the regular season and even fewer minutes in the playoffs.  The fact of the matter is that at Rondo's age and with athleticism, talent, and training (have you ever noticed, that despite running the floor like a madman, it'll be the end of the 2nd quarter and he'll have barely broken a sweat?), he is perfectly capable of playing big minutes next year.  We could get by with House as his backup if need be.

I'd rather Pruitt be given a chance or bring in someone else.  Marbury works at his defense but it isn't to pruitt's level and I'd say eddies is better also.  If marbury shot is what it was last year he should retire.

While I could live with Pruitt, I suppose the argument against him is that Pruitt and House are fairly similar in terms that their shooting is probably their best skill.  Marbury offers a different skill set as a playmaker.

As I said before though, I don't think it's a big deal.  Rondo's going to play 35-40 mpg.  Who our backup is isn't going to be nearly as important as who we get to back up the 4/5 and 2/3.

I myself am ready to move on from House. He's of little use to us as a PG, and I really hate his size as a SG. Want to try something different. If anything, I'll give more playing time to Pruitt at the 2, and I want to see how Walker and Giddens have progressed.

Would love to have Marbury back... but only if we can't get an upgrade at the backup point... with a trainning camp under his belt,a whole summer to shake some rust off, having him on the team for a whole year to get used to the system and play with KG sounds pretty good to me.
