Pruitt cut.

Hudson allowed to go overseas to get experience against better talent.

Roster space used for a player that can help the Celtics this season.
I really hope this happens because this scenario assumes that a lot of good veterans want to sign with the Celtics. This did not happen to be the case last offseason, at least not for the money they could offer.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

If we can get some quality free agents to fill the PG/Big man need then that would be great.  But obviously that didn't happen in 2009 and it cost us.  Mikki Moore was a joke, Birdman Anderson would have been a better pickup and the Starbury experiment has failed.  Giddens appears to be useless and Tony Allen again had a subpar year while turning the ball over too often to even make it worthwhile to have him on the floor.

I heard that Hudson had improved his ballhandling his second year.  So if he can handle the ball decently, pass decently, and bring an aggressive scoring touch that doesn't need to be 'spot up wide open' like House, then he can contribute something to the offense that neither House or Pruitt can.  This is yet to be seen of course but we'll get a better idea in summer league.

Pruitt has proved himself to be an NBA level player.

I haven't seen Hudson play, so I don't know what he's capable of. So for now, Pruitt is the frontrunner.

I'm looking forward to seeing Hudson play in summer league.

In a nut shell, I think the backup C is our most important thing, then sf then pg.  If we can get a vet backup great, this doesn't mean marbury or a cassell like experiment.
Pruitt I felt was doing well when he was getting pt, his defense is quite good, he needs to grow a pair.  Guy had the stroke now seems to be so tentative...
Hudson can be d league, if he lights it up bring him up immediately.  I think if Hudson does prove to be a player he's eddies replacement down the road.  Instant offense off the bench etc.
Pruitt is cheap compared to a fair amount of the backup pgs out there but I think he has to have the handle or he's cut (and I like him)
As for eddie giving us minutes at backup pg, I'm fine with it as long as Ray brings the ball up.  Eddie does a good enough job but as backup sg he can really stretch the floor and bring the instant offense.
I think we need pruitt and or hudson as backup pg more than we need a 6'4" backup sf that turns the ball over tons (tony)

I wouldn't be surprised if both make the team just because they are both cheap and the team needs bodies but will have a hard time getting them as things stand.

"“This is an opportunity to play on a great team, to play with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo,’’ Hudson said. “They didn’t draft me for me to go overseas, they drafted me to be on the team. And this is a chance to make a team that will compete for the championship. I’m going to work hard and prove I deserve a spot on the team. You’ve got to be confident. And I think they got a steal in the draft.’’

On boston.com sports website. I like seeing that type of confidence. You dont see too many players saying stuff like this much anymore

It should be interesting how both do in the summer league.  Really we haven't seen Pruitt play in year as he was just rotting on the bench and not in the D league.

I'd say Pruitt has proven to be a fringe player...he needs a full season of 10+ mpg to prove he can really play in the league

Pruitt cut.
You don't have to cut Pruitt, he will be an UFA if we do not extend him a qualifying offer. Which probably means he's as good as done.

Yeah, Pruitt has proven himself to be a fringe player. I think he's a good end of the roster guy in spots 12-15.

Pruitt hasn't proven himself as a rotation caliber player in the NBA.

First of all, it doesn't really matter.  What will define the C's is the top 10 players, not the bottom 1-2.  Second, why would anyone expect Hudson to make it over Pruitt.  Hudson was the 58th player selected in one of the worst drafts in modern history, whereas Pruitt was the 32nd pick in a much better draft, AND, he has 2 years of experience under his belt - so he's more likely to be able to help the team this year, in a pinch.  Pruitt in a landslide.

yes but if hudson does look good, keep him in d league then see what eddie is doing after this year if he opts to stay
pruitt can give us time at sg also, where hudson if he proves his worth is a sg in pg body
