Celtics get:
Tayshaun Prince
Raja Bell
Nazr Mohammed

Bobcats get:
Ray Allen

Pistons get:
Boris Diaw
CHA #12 pick

We would downgrade at shooting guard but Bell is a good defender/shooter.  We get a younger Posey in Prince to back up the wing spots, and a serviceable big (actually tall) to back up Perk.

Bobcats finally get a marketable star player.  Team Ray with Okafor, Wallace, and Augustin/Felton and that's an upgraded starting lineup.  Plus, Ray is a "Team Jordan" guy.

Pistons downgrade from Prince to a similarly versatile guy in Diaw plus pick up the #12 pick in the draft.

I don't think the Pistons do it. I am not sure if that is enough for them.

  • Rondo = Good
The Bobcats probably wouldn't do it, unless they are really in dire financial straights.  They give up two starters and get one back.

This deal is OK for the Celtics but if we are going to trade a starter I'd really like to get some young pieces back that we can maybe use to build for the future...otherwise I don't think it's worth it to make the trade to begin with.  Bell is almost as old as Ray and Prince is a few years younger but still headed away from his peak as opposed to towards it.

I'm not even sure this makes us better now.

Plus, the Pistons give up one of their "core" and get Boris Diaw and probably Terrence Williams in return.  Worth it?  I'm not sure.  With the #15 they could probably take Austin Daye who looks like he could be the next Tayshaun, so it's possible the Pistons could do this deal.  I think considering that they want to win "now" apparently and are looking to get Boozer and maybe Ben Gordon I'm not so sure they'd want to trade away Prince so they could get a versatile backup and a pick in a weak draft.

It's possible, though, I guess.

At least we're not getting rid of Rondo in this deal so our future is still in tact, but the rest of our team is built for now.  This trade would give us the depth that we desperately covet to compete now.

I think Austin Daye looks like Tayshaun in appearance alone. He's not as good defensively and has better offensive skills. If the kid could get aggressive, he has a chance to be good in the league. He disappears too much.

Raja Bell is all washed up, and Prince is overrated. No thanks. I'd gladly rather have Ray.

Well, he clearly has to develop, but he could develop into that kind of player, or better.  Or not.  It remains to be seen.

While I believe both are good, tough players ... Prince is very overpaid and Bell is solid. Nothing more.
