Jason Williams (Post-Sac days), helped turned the kings into one of the most exciting teams in basketball, then became useless after he was traded.

Well wasn't it said that 80% of the NBA players smoked weed. Well somebody has to provide it...  ;)

In all seriousness, he was the starting pg on the Miami team that won the championship. He turned himself into a very fundamentally sound player post Sacto, with a great assist to turnover ratio.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!

He has all the size and athleticism in the world and zero heart. I would say sub zero heart but I don't want to insult on of my favorite Mortal Kombat ninjas. Once he was traded all the C's at that time were vocal as to what a pain he was.

Isiah Rider?

One thing I would hate to play with is someone totally untalented (making a lot of money) cause like they say "Winning solves lots of problems"

You say Spree but then he led the only 8 seed ever to the finals, plus there are some that say the coach was a jerk

So maybe a talented guy that scored a lot and lost a lot. Toine redeemed himself a bit at points. So I'm looking a lot at Marbury. For some reason I think I'd rather burn myself that play with Kobe but he defies my logic so I don't know

I definitely think the worst teammate probably comes from the Jordan-post Jordan era.

i'm goin' with blount. there's so many guys workin' hard to crack the league and blount really could have been an excellent player. remember all those double doubles game after game to get his contract? then he immediately dogs it. he did'nt even seem to care how obvious this was. he tries for one game against us and skips around acting like a jerk. as if the c's did him wrong or something.great rapper though. :P

Stephon Marbury, Celtics G.....22%
Ron Artest, Rockets F.....9%
Stephen Jackson, Warriors F/G.....5%
Kobe Bryant, Lakers G.....5%
Gilbert Arenas, Wizards G.....5%

I love seeing Kobe on that list.

My first vote would be for Zach Randolph. Having been to a lot of Clips games and watching his teammates yell at him and about him to each other when they run back up the court (with Zach always the last one back on D).

I would also have to place a vote for the player who was busted in a hotel room in Denver for Rape and when questioned about it by the police he immediately told them that the star player on the team routinely does it. He's also the guy who recently went to a championship party where every teammate wore a Team jersey and he wore one showing the number of rings he has won in his career.

Mark Blount... Big Al said that after Blount was traded it was like a huge dark cloud was lifted from the locker room.

You know, I think being teammates with Ron Artest would be incredibly interesting as long as you never took him too seriously.

I think the brooding, self absorbed pouters are the worst. They're never quite as talented as they think they are, even if objectively they're very talented. They could be the second best running back in the conference, but they tell everyone how they're the best in the state, and get really T-eed when people disagree. They could be the second worst guy on the line, but they'll complain when they come out on passing situations. They don't make real friends with their teammates, because they think they're above that. They might like the 'best' guys on the team, but they either completely ignore or even disparage the scrubs. Everything is about them. Those are the worst teammates. I can deal with a self absorbed guy as long as he's loyal to his teammates.

Guys I think as like that:
Mark Blount
Stephon Marbury (but I like to think he's changing)
Zach Randolph
Kobe Bryant
Lamarcus Aldridge
Shawn Marion

I could go on.

Why Aldridge? For what i've read in Sergio Rodriguez's blog he seems to be quite a nice guy...

Mark Blount will always remain in my memory as a poor and toxic teammate, same as Ricky "Poster" Davis

The Knicks have had plenty of talent over the years. They have not been able to harness that talent effectively though, because of the quality of talent they've brought in. Zach Randolph, Stephon Marbury, Eddy Curry, Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson (though in the right role he can help out on a good team) are all horrible teammates. If that is your core to build on, then nobody should be surprised when they combine for an average of 25-30 wins a season.

Allen Iverson is also widely considered a "horrible" teammate. But he is still a HOF in my opinion.

I'd say over the past 10 years or so, Steve Francis (look at that - another former NYK) has been the worst teammate in NBA history. Refused to play for the team he was drafted by, fought with Jeff Van Gundy who actually (unlike Rudy T) transformed a team that would get on Sportscenter top 10 every night into one that made the postseason. Unfortunately, Francis was dissatisfied with committing himself to something greater than himself, so he was shipped out. And teams have historically done better once he's left them.

If Francis learned to play the right way, he'd still be in this league. But he got to this point with his oohs and aahs tricks. He didn't even play beyond his sophomore year of HS basketball, he made it the hard way but it wasn't by playing in a system, he was the system itself. And now he is out of the league.

I think the worst teammate would have to be a dominant personality who is a main guy on a team like Iverson.  I don't think Blount would qualify because he's just a jerk on the end of the bench.  I would consider AI, McGrady, Baron Davis, Kobe, Jermaine ONeal.  The next tier would include guys like Ricky Davis and Maggette.  And a guy like Rasheed Wallace seems popular with teammates, but his laziness and indifference would drive me nuts.

Just a note... This poll was taken before Marbury signed with the Celtics. I think those numbers would be different now. Marbury has been humbled.

Brandon Roy and Lamarcus didn't speak/rarely if ever spoke personally for almost a year, because Lamarcus thought B-Roy had left him off the invite list for a barbecue, and LaMarcus loves barbecue. This is not made up. This actually happened

Hilarious, the line "and LaMarcus loves barbecue" made that story for me. TP
