I guess I was surprised that he seemed so focused on the draft. Perhaps he was blowing off the question with a pat answer; but still surprised that he did not acknowledge other options more prominently.

I think you answered your own question right there

Check out the article in the Herald today. I don't think he's spending a ton of time worrying about the draft.

Thanks for the nice find BBall, TP 4 the heads up on that article.

Yeah, it sure sounds as if the Celtics may not even use the pick unless whomever they take is willing to go overseas or remain overseas for the foreseeable future. I could see them selling it or trading it.

I also liked the info that Danny is downplaying the possibility of trading up, Either he's doing it because there is no chance of it happening or because he thinks he will be definitely doing something. Personally, I think this could be the worst draft since the Kenyon Martin going #1 draft and if I was betting on it would say Danny doesn't do anything for a first rounder.

One thing,  though, nick is Danny LOVES the draft. Also, it is one of the most cost effective way to add talent to your team - especially in the second round.

Danny also loves shooters and there are a lot of shooters out there. I wouldn't be surprised to see Danny trade up for a pick to grab somebody.

if he didn't swing some deal in this draft, would that be the first non-dealing draft for DA?

trying to think back...started with the Banks/Perk deal.

All excellent points and I have nothing to hand my hat on other than I think, as many do, that this is an extremely weak draft and that with Doc and Wyc both making public statements regarding veteran free agents, that that is the way Danny fills out the roster.

I could be all wrong and he might do as you say, but I just don't see Danny adding a youngster to this bench that is already extremely young. Though, of course, if in interviews he asked prospects "if drafted by the Celtics, would you be willing to play a couple of seasons in Europe developing your game?" and they were agreeable to it, he could trade up and then stash someone.

limited roster spots is for sure a huge concern. we have basically four if we pick up the option on Pruitt. They've put a lot of time in on him, so I  would expect that to happen.

If we resign Baby and Leon, that leaves two. and both certainly need to be key players that will get major PT next season.

If Danny does make a move up in the draft, I would think that it was a sign that some kind of two for one trade is on the horizon...

what's the date on deciding about Pruitt's option?
