Thinking outside the box, how about Jsh Childress?  He would be pricey (MLE), but he would significantly limit Ray's and Paul's minutes leaving them fresher and healthier for the playoffs. I think he would be a great sixth man. Thoughts? Thumps up or down?

He is near the top of my list. 

I think he is worth the MLE as both a bench guy now, and a potential starter down the road. 

Here is my list of guys I would throw the MLE at, with the guys I would most want to accept it at the top:

Artest
Kidd

I'm surprised you have Wallace at the top of your list. Last I saw him play, he bombed way too many threes, quit on his team, and has sounded very "me first" this off-season.

He is insane, he says a lot of stuff.  But I think if you put him on a team like this (especially with a guy like Garnett who he really respects), then he would be a good (enough) soldier.  And he would immediately be one of the best bench players in the league.

I think that soft European stereotype is a little out dated. Maybe big men, b/c they shoot more from the perimeter over there, but I wouldn't be concerned that Childress got softer over there (I don't remember him being too soft anyways). Again I think not only would he be a great sixth man, but I think he would totally help pierce and Ray by limiting their in season minutes so we can get their best come playoffs.

How is Childress soft? Better per minute rebounds (including much better offensive rebounds per minute), same blocks per minutes as Pierce. For a SF, that is not bad at all.

Add to that a true shooting % of 60, and the guy is very effective.

The only problem is that I think that one of the reasons he didnt resign with Atlanta is that he wanted more than the MLE, which means that I think Atlanta would match the MLE, and he wouldnt take it.

Atlanta might not be able to match anything this year due to the ownership situation that is happening. They might have to start trimming payroll given what's happening there. I doubt they would match the full MLE for Childress but I doubt Childress would give up better money overseas to come back less money just to be in the NBA.

Also, I second or third the whole soft Euro and soft Childress statements.

At the moment (literaly) Childress is having possibly his best game in Europe in the first final.

I don`t think that Europe has affected his toughness (or the lack of it) but certainly didn`t improve his range (~34% 3p)

In 17 games he played (regualr season Green A1)
15p 4r 1.5as 1.8st .8bl 24mins (75% 1p 70% 2p 34% 3p)

Different economy. Not sure Atlanta matches MLE or Childress can expect more than the MLE. Many Americans are one and done with Europe (they miss home), so I think we have a shot.

Possible bench:

PG: Marbury (or other vet pg) and House
SG: Childress and House
SF: Childress and Walker
PF: Powe (come playoffs), McDyess, and Scal
C: McDyess

That's only 7, so still leaves 3 roster spots.

Long term MLE would be more money than his current contract. in terms of one and done, I remember Ferry and Brian Shaw went to Europe and quickly returned. Dominique lasted a yr and then went back to the NBA. I don't remember an American that stayed in Europe despite having good offers in America.  If Childress accepts the MLE, no need to do a sign and trade. Sign and trades work better for players getting more than the MLE. Last yr, Childress didn't want to settle for the MLE. Well this yr the economy has changed and maybe after a yr in Greece he wants back in America and the NBA. Not at all impossible.

He signs with a Euro team for a year and Atlanta still has some sort of rights on him? How does that work?
