BBD is over rated and under skilled in the core tools of a PF. Whoever gives that guy big money will regret it.
True Statements

Yeah having a guy off the bench who could step in for a future hall of famer and average more points and fill in pretty dang well is something most teams dont want.

Ignorance is bliss.

Yea i know right, everyones saying this becuase they know he most likely won't be able to come back next year. So we're making that ok by saying we don't need him. 6th grade dating rule 1: Dump her before she dumps you.

Rondo is a moderately talented coach-killer who thinks he's better than he is. Quit obsessing on rebounding (a secondary skill for a PG) and learn how to shoot, ****mit. Big Baby will give you directions to the gym where he shot jumpers every day last summer if you get lost in your Red Bull mobile, Rondo.

Maybe while Baby teaches Rondo how to shoot, Rondo should teach Baby how to rebound...

TP. Funny. though I thought that Baby and Rondo both had very good playoffs. We lost our best player. You take Lebron, Kobe, Howard, Wade, Dirk, Duncan, CP3, etc off their teams and I don't see them making it this far. Both Rondo and Baby, along with Perk and even Scal stepped up in this playoffs. We missed KG, Powe, PJ, and Posey. That's a lot to lose.

This made me laugh, TP.

...in your opinion.

In my opinion, we found out the following:

  • Rondo is the top point guard we all thought he was.
  • Glen Davis is average defensively, but was a steal in the second round and can definitely play.
  • Paul Pierce lacked something without Garnett. Like he knew we'd lose, but couldn't say it. It showed.
  • Scalabrine really can't contribute to an elite team. He's really bad.
  • Kendrick Perkins is one of the best defensive centers in the NBA.
  • Stephon Marbury can perform well in this team and has the right mentality.
  • The rookies are useless, as is Gabe Pruitt.*
  • We need to get healthy, and maybe go back to Rome?
  • Ray Allen is still clutch.
  • We lost our 32-0 up 3-2 record, which is good. No more silly "records are made to be broken" headlines for next year.

* Not necessarily "useless", but they can't contribute to a contender. Or, maybe they can. Either way, we saw nothing and we wont next year unless something extremely unlikely happens.

  • Ray Allen is still clutch and we need him back.
  • House when hot is instant offense
    • House can disappear for long periods in the playoffs.
    • Scalbrine really belongs on the bench, I love the guy but unless he is wide and I mean wide open he really brings nothing on offense.
      • Mikki Moore fouls a lot.
      • The Celtics need to be more aware of where they have their feet on 3pt attempts

Averaging more points isn't what is important. He only averaged more points because he took more shots. This is because the defense was leaving him open when helping on others.

That didn't happen all that often with KG.

That's the truth. We played the longest series in nba history shorthanded and then still managed to take a 59 win team (clearly seen as a top 4 team in the league all season) to 7 games without our best player or his main backup.

I think, actually, that what a lot of people focus on is that while Davis produced approximately the same scoring as kg, he was way way way below in defense, rebounding, assists, etc.

As I've stated in another thread, if we can get "starting Davis" to play like "starting davis" off the bench, he has a place on this team.  THus far, though "bench davis" has been terrible, and if you are a team giving Davis the 37 minutes he need to average 16 pts and 5.8 rbs, your team is in trouble.

Right. I've never once mentioned in the last two years that the guy was over rated and lacked core skills necessary to be KG's replacement down the road...

I think the guy was a great pick in the second round. I think the guy is a solid career bench guy on a good team and a low end starter on a poor team. He has a great personality and energy, however he just isn't the guy to pay big money to thinking he will move into KG's spot in 2-3 years. If he can, then we are going to be one of those bad teams again.

-Rondo isn't an elite player. He's a very good player, though and he was easily our best overall player in the playoffs. Seemed to get tire by the end and lost some offense and was slacking on D.

-Pierce and Allen seem older than last year. 'tis natural. They'll be older next year.

-as such, assuming KG comes back from injury at his previous level (slipped a notch but still very good), I'd much prefer that PP, RA, and KG miss about 15-20 games each next season for mysterious injuries and we slip into the playoffs as a healthy 5-7 seed with fresh legs.

-Davis needs monster minutes to put up so-so numbers. He's not good enough to start, but he needs minutes to be okay. Stuck in a catch-22.

-we need depth, not swings and misses like last year

-Most importantly, Very strong character of this team. We lost a Defensive Player of the year from last year and member of this year's all-defensive team, lost Powe, our best bench rebounder and post scorer, got nothing worthwhile in the playoffs from KG, Powe, POB, Moore, Tony, Scal, Pruitt, Marbury (except 1 game), Walker, and Giddens and still beat a good up and coming athletic bulls team and took a very good Magic team to 7 games.

I'm sorry but Davis is not a bad defender. He is a pretty good team defender and good at rotations. Don't judge the guy for covering what was really a SF. Big Baby was great on Noah and Howard when he had to be. He is going to be a very good player off of the bench when the Ticket is back. You do need to put him with good defensive rebounders though.

We learned that this team has the heart of a lion and can never be counted out. It seemed pretty obvious that the legs started to give out.

Pierce and Ray need to be at 30 minutes a game and Walker or Giddens needed to be worked into the rotation before the playoffs. Doc even admitted this at the time, and still refused to give Pierce and Ray some rest.

Perkins gave this team everything he had. He is the perfect KG compliment, the perfect role player, one of the best contracts in the NBA, best attitude, best 1v1 defender on the team, second best team defender. I'd love to see that jumper get better and better and you know he will work on it.

Rondo's offense wasn't good enough yet to hurt the Magic when they were literally abandoning him to double Pierce. I hope he realized this.

We might have to let Leon go if he doesn't come back 100% from the surgery

We NEED to keep BBD

We NEED a 100% KG to dominate

Rondo is our future

Paul and Ray need a big man like KG to make their offense go most of the time

We need another player who can come off the bench and create his own offense

We need another player who can come off the bench and play lockdown defense

Mikki Moore was useless and Marbury was spotty at best

Scal is a great fill in role player but is still overpaid

Perk is a beast and Dwight had better know it

WE NEED DEPTH

Agreed.

We need to sign BBD.

Then we need to get a backup for Pierce, a backup for Perk and a backup for Rondo. Oh, and they need to be legit backups. :-\
